[Teksavvy ISP] High latency every night at the same time

Nothing updated for me. Still atrocious lag spikes happening. I’ll be probably swapping providers soon due to other reasons so I’ll update if that resolves it for certain (likely will?)

Exact same issues here, I’m with Teksavvy in the Toronto area, ms spikes around 9pm, seems to only affect World of Warcraft for me. Honestly thought i was going crazy, I’ve tried literally everything, so this thread was sort of comforting to come across lol.

I’ve been looking on the Teksavvy reddit, and its pretty widespread. Has anyone changed ISPs and experienced better results?

Has anyone been able to resolve this problem? It’s gotten a bit better, which means nothing, but its still a problem. Was extremely spotty during the test.

Just putting in this note about TekSavvy issues.
If I connect directly there is pretty much always lag.
This test was during the day with least lag. Will try updating with lots of lag.
If I go through a VPN at almost the same time it’s not there.

Here is WinMTR (normal) - had latency around 126ms ingame

Hi Friends,
I’ve been having a similar issue with Teksavvy and may of found the problem. With their unlimited packages they automatically enroll you in a “Shared Internet Resources” plan which is essentially them controlling bandwidth to save costs. This only get forced on people when they’re considered “high use users” and the area they’re in is during peek hours. It’s not suppose to affect most games but it is without question affecting WoW.

They’re is absolutly nothing they can do about it (or are willing to do about it). The only thing you can do is reduce your overall bandwidth usage on their network, I wasn’t given a cap number that puts you into the “high use” category. Or like me you can switch to Rogers, which breaks my heart…

Hope this helps.

UPDATE: Teksavvy has sent me a “new” modem to test my connection during peak hours. I’ll post my WinMTR reports when I have them starting tomorrow night.

Can any CM’s in here confirm the IP to traceroute to? I’m on US-Turalyon Server. I’ve been using " 137.221.105.2 ", but is that correct? Please respond if you see this.

Hey Faithsin,

Turalyon is a US Central server so you would want to use 24.105.62.129

So far so good. The new modem has me sitting at 35-40 ms while raiding in WoW when connected to a Central Blizzard Server, rather than the astronomical numbers I was seeing. Is it possible the old modem I was using had older firmware which was contributing to the slow speeds and high ms? Unsure, but I guess I’m going to buy this modem off of Teksavvy. Been having same issues over the period discussed here with the same ISP (every single night between 8p - 11p) , they also sent me a new modem to test but i have not yet installed it. That said tonight i have not been having any issues… it may be they addressed something in the last day. Going to give it another couple of days before committing to trying the new hardware since it may not be needed.

I ended up having to change providers partially pushed by this, partially pushed by fees going up with Teksavvy for Oct 1st for the package I was on. I now have 500/500 instead of 75/15 for the same price (local provider).

The last night I was on Teksavvy (last Tuesday), it seemed a bit better but I was still having major spikes.

To the person who brought up bandwidth constraints, I was experiencing the issues on an unlimited package but wasn’t a huge downloader so I question whether or not that was happening with me.

I wish you all the best in figuring this out.
