Tbc /who and shift click

Ever since pre-patch, I can’t shift right or shift left click people’s names. I do this to see their character information. The /who list is also buggy. I only use three addons and i’m always updating them. Questie, Greenwall, and recount.

Not sure if you’re still having this issue, but I too was unable to shift click people’s names in chat / shift click items in my inventory to split stacks / ctrl click items to see them in the dressing room. I tried deleting addon / WTF folder - no luck.

What DID work, was going in to the in-game Key Bindings menu and unchecking the box for “character specific keybinds”. It said all keybindings would be erased, but low and behold, all my keybindings were fine (your mileage may vary) and I could now shift and/or CTRL click like normal.

That’s weird because I’m having the exact same issue as the OP and I came back to wow with a fresh install on a new pc, so I had no keybinds or anything. I also can’t shift click names and the /who command stops working after one or two uses. There’s a thread in the TBC forums with people complaining about the exact same thing.

They can be stored server side and your client can “redownload” them on any client. You might need to do a cvar reset with the command: /console cvar_default and keep in mind, it will display an error and that’s perfectly fine. It still works. After doing that, make sure to then use the command: /reload which will save the settings.

I think that’s intentional. There were addons for scanning server populations that were destroying Classic server performance when it first came out.

Also, the client isn’t the OG client, it’s the modern client. Same goes for the servers. They’ve had all kinds of systems like that modified over the years to prevent exploitation and degredation of server performance.

Jumping on this, I can’t shift-click people’s names to see who they are. Only works once out of like 10 tries. Is this working as intended?

Seems to be something wrong with the /who function, which is effectively disabling shift-clicking people’s names. Can we get someone to acknowledge this? Do a /who and you can’t do it again for like another minute. This was not in original TBC, and I haven’t seen it in any version of WoW.

Like I said earlier, TBCC isn’t running on the original client, it’s a modern retail version of the client. I haven’t played it at all, but maybe it’s a layering issue or something. Not sure if they are doing layers right now or not.

This is extremely common in retail though. Go play retail, do some BGs or LFR or look for names in trade chat, try shift clicking on them in the chat log and you’ll get the zero players found thing or it just won’t display anything a smaller percentage of the time. Tends to happen most in queued content.

This really affects gameplay, if you can’t see who someone is, level-wise mostly, makes it very difficult to group up for level-appropriate content. I sure hope this isn’t working as intended.
