And literally everything you ask for is available to you by just using a ground mount.
This is peak delusion.
Therefore everyone should have to play like you want to play. Blizz went down that road in WoD and it was disastrous. And the Pathfinder replacement was even worseâŠbut thatâs a whole other issue. I have a suggestion: if you donât want to fly, donât fly.
But itâs a moot point because of course TBC will have flying just like it was back in the day. And thatâs a great thing because the game was about FUN, not mindless gatekeeping of said fun by artificially slowing down and manipulating the playerbase to string them along to finally unlock something the devs know we enjoy.
stop filling the forums with stupid calls.
Well I wonât pretend im good at arena/pvp, but world pvp pretty much defines MMOâs for me. Big spontaneous group interactions. Not 6 people in a controlled box.
It has nothing to do with arena. It has everything to do with the lore. I want to see a war in warcraft. I want to see orcs verses Humans. I donât really understand why I am in an arena with a couple people. I donât need e-sport, I need mmoRPG.
Right? It should be obvious by now thatâs ridiculous. Instanced PvP ruined world PvP. Look what happened as soon at BGs were released in classic. World PvP vanished overnight. No flying mounts to be found. But, people have to stick with their well trodden narrative.
Arenaâs screwed WoW more than everything else did. Way too many forum warriors all about PvP balance for the next 3 xpacks. Metzen regretted them.
Flying was the key feature of TBC.
Yâall wanted #NoChanges for Vanilla Classic. Live with flight for TBC Classic.
Arena was fun, at the time, I played the hell out of it and loved it. But looking back, I can see how Arena started us down the path that made retail WoW feel like classes were all homogenous.
Cause they started rebalancing and changing all classes to have very similar toolkits to compete in Arena. Like now, every class has its defensive, and dmg steroid and interrupt and they all play very similar to each other with the main differences being graphical and whether you are melee or ranged.
Arena was bad for the game because it incentivized Blizzard to homogenize class design.
Youâre right, surely TBC will be better when everyone is running the same comps in arena, playing Hunters & Locks making up 75% of the population, 80% of the playerbase playing Horde, etc etc.
Thereâs a reason all of that balancing happened over the years.
I never liked the addition of flying but can tolerate it now after having it so long in Retail WoW (and yes, flying is a debate to this day).
Flying was widely known on my server for causing issues with World PVP. I thought I was imagining it but there was a forum thread made by someone who was on my Vanilla realm a few month back that said the exact same thing⊠which was kind of random (how often do you see a stranger just come to this forum to post about issues on your Vanilla realm?). Iâve heard otherwise from other people that flying didnât cause World PVP issues so it may have been server specific. I love World PVP so I will be doing air ganking and stuff. I donât have a problem with this. I tried to bring back World PVP in WotLK on my Vanilla realm and got a bit of a following with horde and alliance guilds participating but it wasnât really the same⊠just more scripted.
Anyway flying is required in TBC due to the terrain so itâs just part of it.
Nothing jump pads, escalators and elevators canât fix! Just need some machine guns nowâŠand maybe some more zombies.
I agree thatâs part of why I love Classic. It just has a great World PVP element where you go out there and always fight the same people etc. I loved phase 2.
Arenas are fine for what they are. The problem is that since they released weâve had full of themselves people who seem to have their only life accomplishments involve a video game rating. They also donât seem to play the game for fun they play it so they can feel better than other people due to having nothing else going for them. Itâs pretty gross. So yeah Iâm not a fan of these types of people, but the people who just enjoy fighting others and playing with friends in arena while having a good attitude are great.
this take is cringe
I think server overpopulation and big faction imbalances on servers have done a lot as well to ruin wpvp and in some cases entire servers.
Flying was one of the things that made TBC great wtf
What ruined wpvp is most people who tried it discover they donât actually like it. So they pay to transfer to single faction servers. Blizzard observed this time and time again. Thatâs why they changed pvp to warmode.
As soon as the gate opens 9,000,000 toons are going run straight to the vendor and all lift off at the same time. Then the servers fly away.
Thereâs a very real and meaningful difference between rebalancing, and homogenizing. The former is healthy for the game, the second is not. And unfortunately thatâs the direction Blizzard took.
