TBC Netherwhelp Collar not able to be claimed

Box, it’s amazing that you made this video. Thank you for sharing, you’ve earned a sub from me!

Thank you so much  it’s a video I did not want to have to do but felt like I had to when I first opened my ticket a month or two ago. I really hope this is something that can get resolved for all of us in the future. I will post updates and information as I receive it as well!

Wait a minute, it said if the item had never been added to a collection. I have one of my netherwhelps in the bank on one of my retail characters, can I get that transferred to a TBC character then?

If it’s on a different BNET and you consolidate it you should be able to add it to your collection on your current account on retail if it’s in your inventory but you should double check with a GM. Your retail license will not have the pet on TBC classic sadly which is disheartening considering you own the CE.

Would just like to add some of the GM responses I had when I sent a ticket about the same issue for feedback sake

GM1 response
So, I’ve had a look into this and from what I can see the original Collectors Edition pets are WoW account bound and not Battle.net, due to that being the case the Dev’s have decided that we will not be assisting with transferring the license or key to another WoW account.

While the response was polite from the GM, I really think for players that own the CE on an old unused account that can prove was there’s should have the option to do this. (I literally have my old torn up Outland Map mousepad still original CD key etc lol) For whatever reason some players have had multiple WoW Licenses and for whatever reason it does not feel good not being able to use a pet on the only rerelease we will ever have of this expansion. I strongly Urge the development team to consider giving CS the flexibility to do this in the future.

I replied again just double checking and explaining that they can’t do this and the second response I got from another gm was

GM2
In an effort to align with you on this, I will confirm in your own phrasing - I am sorry to tell you that there is absolutely no way the old CE license can be moved to your current account and removed from your old unused account. I appreciate that you see this request as trivial and that the only acceptable outcome to you is that the license is moved, but I am afraid we will not be able to do it and I am sorry again that we couldn’t assist.

To state that I saw this as trivial is false as well, I knew this was a strange and complicated case like the OPs as well. I wasn’t to keen on the last reply if i’ll be honest these pets mean so much to the players who had them back in the day. Do I wish I never made a second WoW acc in Wrath? Most definitely but I don’t feel like myself and others in this predicament should be punished by not having the CE pets on Classic. As stated above as a long time player being fought on this it didn’t feel good at all and has really had me feeling down lately about the game. It may just be a dragon that follows you around but again it’s something that is incredibly nostalgic for most in this situation.

Best of luck to everyone and I hope this thread continues this discussion going forward!

Here’s mine. Looks like they’re not willing to help us. :frowning: I’m disappointed, to say the least…

Your ticket has received the following response:

Hi there Krystal I’m Specialist Game Master Voutyri, and I’ll be handling your help request today with the utmost of care, and I’d like to thank you for your patience and understanding so far

I’ve been reading your tickets about the Netherwhelp pet in Burning Crusade Classic. I’m sorry to hear you upset and confused by the previous reply. Let me have a look into this further for you

I know it’s easy to get confused as we made a lot of things Battle.net account wide since The Burning Crusade first released. But because the classic version of WoW and Burning Crusade don’t support Battle.net account wide items it sadly means you won’t be able to get the Netherwhelp pet on your WoW4 account

In the Blue Post here: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/ce-pet-available-on-beta/961478/7 we do say World of Warcraft account not Battle.net account

I understand you feel robbed that you can’t use the pet on WoW4, but there really isn’t anything we can do. It’s not possible to move the Burning Crusade Collector’s Edition to WoW4 due to technical limitations

I wish I had a different answer for you, but I’m sorry to say it there really isn’t anything we can do for you

Take care and stay safe

It’s not that they’re willing to help, it’s that the Classic and TBC versions don’t support account-wide items. So there’s nothing they can do.

I think your best bet is one day they let you transfer characters between WoW accounts and you move characters to whichever one had the CE pet originally.

Apparently they won’t do that either. Classic characters cannot be transferred between accounts.

Yeah, which is weird since they’re trying to milk the playerbase in so many other ways. Think about how much money Activi$ion would make if they allowed players to transfer characters between WoW accounts. Example: the boost. You could now just make a wow account, boost. Connect it to your battle.net and transfer. Of course at that point they’d probably just remove the 1-time limit (which we all know is going to happen eventually).

I almost wonder if this is why they won’t transfer or honor the license they figure they can get another 25$ out of players like us in this situation. Very unfortunate reading the gms response to Luka. It sounds like it’s something they could have done before but won’t because we want to use the netherwhelp pet in classic and there is a dev stance on not allowing cs to honor the pets. Very disappointing

In order to keep this discussion going there is a support article regarding this piece - https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/000288401 I would urge people to report the policy as frustrating even if this doesn’t effect you it’s something that could in the future. A solution to this would be the developers giving CS the flexibility to move older CE licenses to someone’s current bnet account if they can provide enough proof the item is theres (pictures of the old CE etc). It’s something from the sounds of it they CAN DO but the developers are tying their hands here from the responses I got.

Again as stated earlier this is something that means a lot to players who got these items back in 07. I will never forget coming home from school and opening the tbc collectors edition that my parents were gracious enough to get for me when I was younger.

Bumping this thread just one more time

Blizzard please milk me, I would transfer my roster if that’s what it took at this point.

I apparently had the pet on a different account too for og TBC. I didn’t remember since it’s all been account wide for so long and I still have the box on my nerd shelf.

I’d have happily selected the other dropdown when I started Classic had I known instead of the one I did select.

When I put in my ticket they did get my hopes up by offering a refund then to move it to my current main account… but after I replied saying YES details please!, a different gm said no, that the previous gm misunderstood and was thinking about the level 58 boost. Feelsbad. idgaf about my boost I would like to get the pet on my characters though, even if it means transferring them over, which, if I recall, we could do at the end of vanilla anyway-just don’t allow a boost to do it these days and it’s more money in their pockets

Same here. I wanted my Classic account to be separate from my Retail, but I didn’t think which account would matter. Boy was I wrong, and paying for it now.

I reached out about it as well before TBC Classic was released. It sounded like they were almost willing to move my license then he devs prevented it. Personally the cross acc transfer is a decent fix but I do think out of respect to all of us Blizzard should just honor the CE for you and other players on your current license who played this game for so many years and purchased the original CE. I hope they do something for you and others in this thread! I think it’s important we keep voicing our thoughts and concerns here and other places and thank you for sharing your story about it here

I honestly thought they wouldn’t have been so picky about honoring it if you own it. The verbiage in this interview with MrGm bothers me when I read it because of people in our situation and it feels there’s been nothing done to help us.

Brian Birmingham: That is certainly the intent. I know that one of the tricks is that the way we store some of those licenses changed over time, so it was a challenge to even do it for the original Classic. But it is something we feel like is important to honor if you got the Collector’s Edition at the time. We want to make it possible for you to get the Collector’s Edition reward you got at the time, and so, we’re gonna do some effort to try and see if we can detect that same license the way it used to be recorded on your account, and if we can detect that you originally bought the BC Collector’s Edition, we will give you the original BC Collector’s Edition pet.

The bolded line is what sticks out the most when I read that interview. Very unfortunate :frowning:

This has proved to be an absolute lie, if my interactions with customer support is any indication.

Yeah : / this is 100% how I felt about that specific comment after contacting CS about this. It becomes upsetting when the devs tie their hands in helping players in this situation. I’ve been trying to see if people with the original vanilla CE posted about this but from what i’ve seen I haven’t been able to find anything. I would hope that Blizz would do the same for someone who hasn’t been able to use a panda cub etc.

In an effort to keep this discussion going have you found any updates about the Netherwhelp? I think at this point it seems we can only wait for acc transfers : / very big shame

Unfortunately just more of the same. We were encouraged to post in the forums if we want to see changes made, so let’s keep this discussion going.

This is Game Master Meszossko at your summoning and I hope all is well with everything that’s happening in the world.

Thanks for reaching back out to us and we really appreciate your patience whilst waiting for our assistance.

As a player myself who no longer plays on my original account, I can certainly understand where you are coming from. However, with that being said, the Netherwhelp pet is WoW account specific so I’m afraid it’s only claimable on your MACCAW account.

If you would like to see some changes to make it Battle.net account wide, feel free to submit your suggestion on our community forums here: [https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/]

If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach back out to us. We’d be more than happy to assist!
