It’s so obvious who they are, the game as become so toxic to play as of late. Loot drama, guild drama, general complaints and so forth is and was normal.
But this toxic behaviour in dungeons, in LFG chat, in raids is on another level.

It’s pretty much all MMO’s now.. However, I was FORCED to role Alliance since you could not create a Horde toon.. When the restriction has finally opened up I made my Horde character and am now 70.
All I can say is that the ***hole level has dropped dramatically. People IMO are far less Toxic on Horde. In BG’s, in Dungeons, grouping in the wild, hell most horde will even ask you about a node if they see your near it.
So OP, I don’t know if your Alliance, but if you are give Horde a try. It has been a far greater experience for me at least. Just avoid AV’s if you are Horde, the losing mentality has soaked into them in that BG to the bone.

And the rest of this stuff….I am in the short release camp as to why people are the way they are as 1 reason.
Reduced time, faster pace however gear drops at the slow rate of the 2 prior longer runs. Make things scarce, dudes freak out more.
They went their shinies. They look at maths with reasonable drop rates and go….dude this won’t work out well. they see the ML loot list. they see guilds can’t eve feed the nepotism gimme’s quickly even.
If the GM’s other half, friend from little league and then sibling isn’t getting lots of gear, if they are say slot 10 on the LC list after that they know they Are pretty much SOL.

I heartily disagree here, I spent Many Many Years on Argent Dawn(RP Server), from 2006 through 2015 without canceling my sub, majority of the people on that server were polite and respectful, yes we had our jerks who were then ostracized out of the community.

I think classic players are toxic as hell too. Not that I care about it its just weird to say retail players are toxic when the classic playerbase especially 2019 was an absolute cesspool everywhere.

Except it wasn’t. Did you play on a PvP server? Because PvP servers have always attracted the most toxic of players.
TBC Classic had a community that was 1000 times better than TBC Anniversary on Mankrik. I payed both Horde & Alliance back then and it was wonderful. It was such a vast difference than now, it feels like a fever dream. Everyone I talk to on Dreamscythe that played on Mankrik agrees. The problems we’ve all been having are with the newer players.
Seems like the TBCA toxicity on Dreamscythe Alliance is even worse than Horde from all the Nightslayer wannabes that rolled on DS because too many Horde on NS.

You don’t “filter” them lol. When you call people out to help correct them for being bad they’ll tell you they’re new or have never played TBC before through conversation.
Retail players aren’t really toxic, they just whine and complain about everything that makes classic, classic.
“Nerf heroics, add raid drops to badge vendors, add personal loot, etc”

its a personality (disorder). it is not related to which version of wow they play. You can identify who is a healthy, balanced human versus one who is an shriveled up undead gnome with a ton of baggage.

I think the people who hate on retail so much are super weird. Every single one of you has some different point of time where they think WoW was at it’s peak and if someone disagrees with you or enjoys a different aspect you try to disparage them by saying things like “go back to retail”.
Especially someone like OP (Sauronsbane) who is arguably one of the most toxic people on these forums trying to gatekeep the 3rd release of TBC.

You also need to understand that if you played WoW before 2019 you were a retail player, doesn’t matter what version you want to pick, it was retail so technically ever veteran player is an ex-retail player if they don’t play the newest version available.
Regardless, guys like OP are toxic on forums and in game but will make the excuse “I have to be toxic to combat all the toxic ex-retail players” and they will say it un-ironically.
