If it was easily possible to do authentic patches, what is the reason to not want to do them? the reason I even care about this is that rogues were top dps at tbc launch and if they use 2.4, the apparently “optimal” raid comp has zero rogues. I also would prefer to play specs other than sub in arena. I also would rather do content before it’s nerfed.
So what is the benefit of launching with a patch and saying #nochanges when one class is literally not even viable or useable? If you only want to do 2.4, you might as well make changes. And if you’re thinking in the best interest of blizzard you really shouldn’t, you should be lobbying for the best experience possible and let them make the decision to cut costs if they have to.
Except rogues weren’t even good at launch, just playable. I want a patch where the optimal raid comp at least has ONE of my class in it. Even BEFORE I found out how bad they were apparently, I still wanted to play tbc as it was at launch. That means no dailies on release till the corresponding patch, pre nerf mag, all that stuff.
We were top almost top DPS, hunters were still ahead, but this was not by all that much. Part of the reason for rogue dominance was that we as a class player group had far better “sim craft” vs the other players in the game.
I cant remember if 2.0 haste was better than 2.4 or was it that it was about the same got buffed then nerfed… its been a VERY long time since the original patch progression.
The biggest advantage we had was gear itemization advantages in T4 trim that other classes just didn’t that was later resolved for them in terms of their set and bonus structures.
I guess what I am pointing out, it was not all one thing.
So, while a patch by patch for content is ok, there were TONS of bugs fixed and balance repairs done. As well as a SECOND complete redesign of Paladin abilities during the course of TBC. So they would probably want to run talents/characters as 2.4, but content patch by patch. Because forcing players to live with things like bugged threat, broken abilities, etc is a bit much when they KNOW they’re broken.
How many threads are you going to create about the same exact thing? This is like what your 3rd?
Onto the single new point you made about rogues. They were never bad during any patch of TBC and anyone who tells you otherwise is a meta slave who only thinks ranged should be in raids or someone who has no clue what they are talking about and is only spouting off what they “heard” from pservers.
This was the tactic during the development of Classic. The same people making thread after thread after thread about the same topics, trying to create the illusion of some massive movement for certain changes.
It’s all nonsense, and I commend the Blizzard devs for ignoring them. They need to continue to do this into TBC. Because these projects are made for players to experience the game as it was back then. Some players will never accept that, but that doesn’t change the principle tenets of these Classic servers.
