You calling out to completely gut tanks is showing that you really donât know what the actual problem of the game is currently. The problem is that there are way too many specs that have self-healing and thus each spec is in a situation where they take away from the importance of having a healer. That is one of the primary issues that is plaguing the arena.
I main prot pally and there is actually a lot of skill to properly play the spec, in many respects, it is actually harder than playing ret pally and many other specs. This is because of the requirement of actually doing proper cc and damage mitigation / defensive rotations. If this is not done correctly you will never get kills and you will die before you can get the kills.
Just because you donât like them doesnât mean they should not be viable. Letâs have a discussion of why you think they could actually be âguttedâ and made not viable.

Okay, you do not understand the meaning of this. I did not talk about balance right now as is. Right now the balance for prot pally is screwed up, they heal way too much way too often. You cannot use that as a defense to your fact because the balance is not there at all. If it was properly balanced I could take your opinion and start using it as an actual argument.

and ALL of notorious qing into guardian druids at 2700

anything that removes risk and prevents punishment is really REALLY unhealthy for the game
not exclusive to tanks this includes mid bfa dh/dk and late bfa mage/lock ect
things like
prot war - bodyguard
prot pal - (previously) hand of the protector
g druid - den mother / protector of the pack
are all simply unhealthy mechanics designed specifically to gives tanks a niche in arena
however the vision under which they were designed is flawed and impossible to make healthy/skillful
the only real viable way they could make tank specs viable and healthy would be to bolster their utility kit (NOT defensives/healing out put) but utility similar to arms
things like warbanner/disarms/intervenes all things with cooldowns that require you to read the game and react
things like these allow you to lose the game if you DONT react
and donât flat out blanket negate pressure and reward you with durability for existing
tanks should take probably similar damage to defensive stance arms warriors and do probably 60 or so % of their dps
but they should offer fun defensive utility (not defensive cooldowns) and fun offensive control
prot paladin should never ever function as a healer
in most prot paladin games (before prepatch) prot does roughly as much healing as their healer and nearly the same damage as their dps partner
(guardian as well)
in reality though more dps should be designed with similarly full kits to arms warriors and we shouldnt have to give full kits to tanks just to give them a niche
at this point if they continue with this vision for tanks they should just make them not qable with healers

If I used this as a valid argument i would be able to use it towards saying that i would say that Destro locks should be banned in arenas because they completely warped the meta that was BFA for the whole expansion and every comp used Destro locks and you literally had to not play the game to have a opportunity to actually win the game late in dampening. If you ever ran out against a Destro lock you were liable to get destroyed and completely globaled out of nowhere without a means to reliably stop that damage.

So all of these I would agree are not very good. Hand of protector is one that I could agree should probably be removed but is the least oppressive by far of all of them. They would need to just reduce the amount of healing it does to other targets to allow for the other options.
Originally bfa hand of protector was totally fine it would only heal for a large amount during wings but bfa the problem was not the kit at all it was all the corruptions being absurd.

Hand of protector is one that I could agree should probably be removed but is the least oppressive by far of all of them.

our healing surges would do about 30-35% of someones health
basically if the other team played well
controlled our healer
we could effectively get someone through 12 straight seconds of being healerless in 3v3 without the person taking the damage committing a single defensive all via instant cast healing
that is absolutely disgusting
that was nerfed so thoroughly we STILL have issues regarding our mana/swelling waves that were obliterated in the process
the only way i could see something like hand of the protector being realistically balanced would be if it had a 1.5-2 second cast or it did 50-70% less healing on players that arenât you
if you fail to stop a set up you shouldnât just negate it by pressing a next-to-no cooldown instant cast heal a couple times
on top of the 7 defensives you bring to your team and 3 cc drs

Yeah I mean I think that is excessive. But having tanks just getting banned isnât something that should happen at all. Like you are saying they need to make the game less revolving around self healing and off healing. That makes those situations where you cc much more punishing.
Also people complain about tanks but dont actually properly cc to get kills. Yeah in bfa they had tons of heals and the ability to help someone survive for long periods of time. The thing is if there was ever actual proper cross cc it was very easy to kill the kill target if the prot pally cant actually respond and help out.
Is there a way to sticky this accurate, and correct response?

The reason I say that is that you have to do very similar thing that a prot pally has to do but if there is not proper cc chains that are long without gaps and do not get disrupted you arenât going to get kills. On the contrary as ret you only have to do 1-2 cc on the healer and you could easily get kills. This is because you do way more damage with any traditional double dps comps.
You have way more overall pressure and can randomly kill which doesnât happen with prot pally or tank comps.
It is easier to live yes as a prot pally comp but it is much harder to win.
