Tanks don't want to rely on healers

You are correct, if dps need the healers insignificant damage contribution for a mob pull or to down a boss, it’s a dps skill issue. Keep practicing that rotation.

“Insignificant” again, you use hyperbole and blame instead of learning. Not surprised.

Literacy problem or deliberately misrepresenting what I’m saying? Why are you making it sound as if I said “interrupting is bad” or as though I’m somehow not understanding the topic? My very first post on this matter is “healers interrupting is fine, but they shouldn’t be relied on to do it consistently, it’s not their job.”

Begging you to be smarter.

It’s insignificant because it is. Get better at your rotation and you won’t need that extra 0.1% damage contribution.

Healers spamming 1 spell into 1 healthbar will lead to a reduction in healers because that gameplay is classic era dull. SL S1 all over again.

I’m sorry, I’m not gonna read through One-thousand and Sixty-five posts to find your “very first post on this matter.”

I took what I read at face value, but yes doing things other than healing IS their job.

Standing around in any content with your finger up your nose is selfish and UNSKILLED gameplay.

Nobody is standing around doing nothing. Absolutely nobody.

Healing is not that hard to only cast healing spells.

Healer DPS is in fact insignificant and is only relevant in the very highest end of content. 3 DPS sustaining 350k apiece, totaling 1050k DPS, and a healer (assuming not a Disc Priest) trailing with 50 to 60 on a very good run (inconsistently, considering their role and other responsibilities). The best you can hope for is a factor of about 20x.

In 99.999% of scenarios, healer DPS is a nice bonus but the 20 seconds of time it shaves off of a kill, maybe, will not break your key.

Oh yea, DPS rotations are the pinnacle of skill.

What is going on with gamers today? Y’all wrecked FFXIV with this “everyone should be a dps” nonsense - white mages are expected to do nothing but cast DPS spells. WHITE MAGES. And now folks are pushing for that here too? At what point can roles fulfill their… role?

Tanks should absolutely be dependent on healers to stay alive, else why bother to have separate roles to begin with? Just make everyone a DPS and be done with it. In fact, don’t even give us separate job names anymore. Just Ranged DPS, Melee DPS, DPS with a Blue color, DPS with a Yellow color, etc. And then there’s no need for balance or strategy, we’ll all have button 1 dps skill, button 2 dps skill, button 3 dps cooldown, etc. That will make the game MUCH more interesting and dynamic to play.

Good gravy y’all really are just exhausting with some of this stuff.

If you’re not going to read then replying is pointless. Great, you’ve wasted not only my time but your own as well.

All the healers and DDs in this thread telling tanks how they should play and have fun are an equal waste of time.

If your idea of how to play is being an indestructible I win button, your idea is wrong.

Hate to break it to you, but even in 1.0 healers in FFXIV were expected to DPS. It was the design at launch “gamers today” (bsfrrn lmao) didn’t cause that in 2010.

However, “gamers today” did whine and complain so much that healer dps was “too hard” so now healers in that game have been gutted into 1 button and a dot dps spam with OCD’s for healing.

Healers in FFXIV used to be fun, but because of people complaining about having to wrap their head around doing two things at once they gutted them.

Rubber meet glue I guess.

The problem is not that its insignificant; its that even in lower keys people expect you to play everything like its the MDI. Content should never and does never hinge on healer DPS unless there is some mechanic that buffs it wildly, like the last boss in shrine of the storms with the curse - even then its unnecessary for the healer to hold the curse and DPS to win; but people expect it because they saw it in a youtube video or on reddit. I still contend the biggest issue with this game is youtube and reddit. There are already guides out there telling people what to and not to play; and modern gamers are sheep.

I’ll throw some wraths and sun/moonfire, but do not get upset when I don’t tryhard DPS. why do I need to cc, heal, max dps, interrupt, do mechanics, and babysit when DPS/Tanks have far fewer impactful responsibilities?

What was the point of telling me that?

It’s not and if you think you can invalidate other peoples arguments / points / whatever by constantly try to attack them, you’re wrong.

And you telling people playing a different spec how their spec has to work and how they should have fun is wrong as well.

It did fit to the quote :person_shrugging:
