Before or after the hotfix? because getting in there and screaming doesn’t do much for me when I tank, but demoo shout to grab initial threat and battle shout when it goes down, then just revenge/sunders is holding mobs rather well.
Those two things are not mutually exclusive. THAT SAID: if DPS is drawing aggro off of a tank, they (the DPS) are doing their job wrong. Yes, run to the tank if you are aggro’d. No, as a ranged DPS you should not be drawing aggro. Despite how poorly a tank is getting aggro, there is no excuse to be pulling it away from them (unless you are the healer who cannot keep them up without getting aggro’d via healing).
See this is what I thought it was no matter how many mobs there were.
So it sounds like others are saying if there are 10 mobs you will generate 27.5 threat to each mob, is that how it actually works? I don’t have a warrior so I can’t test this effectively.
I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying. The tank was about to get flattened by a horde of mobs they’d unintentionally pulled. As a frost mage, I prevented that by drawing every melee mob I could grab (all but the one the tank attacked) and kiting them.
The entire point of the move was to keep heat off the tank so they didn’t go down, and attempting to run to them while channeling blizzard would not only be impossible - it would also be suicidal for myself, them, and likely the entire rest of the group. I found it rather comical that the tank told me to run to them in such a situation.
I tried BS for threat today and had much the same results, but it was only hitting one other party member. Actually, I am glad of that because spamming shouts is a ridiculous way to tank.
Yes, I am necroing my own thread from 4 months ago. Apparently blizzard made a announcement on the exact same day saying that they will “fix” battle shout - its threat will no longer be split across different mobs. So if you are tanking 2 mobs and cast BS, you will get the full threat on each mob.
Can someone confirm? Does this mean battle shout is the best way to build multi-mob threat?
If you cast BS and the buff gets applied to a party member who has not done any dps on the mob (ie, you’re in a raid and they are tanking a different mob nearby), would you still get the full threat benefit?
I am curious about this. I hate this about the game. You have to look up game mechanics on forums. Forums are places where people give their opinions most of the time. You don’t get answers on forums. You get opinions. You asked a simple question and most of the responders have different and contradictory answers.
Classic is busy again. I have a level 16 warrior that I haven’t put my talents in yet because every site gives different answers. Icy Veins says to level in protection. Everyone on YouTube says to level in either arms/fury, or fury/arms then go protection at 50.
I would love to know the answer to your question and the answer to mine on leveling talents.

There is no intellect shout. Do you mean Demoralizing shout?
Brother, dont use icy veins. Just read your talents. Leveling talents are different than talent builds at end game. If you dont change your talents alot it wont get to 50g quick. Stick with leveling talents that increase your survability then damage.
