Tank rankings?

I’ve found some good niche uses for Hand of the Protector in lower keys as well. Being able to drop a fat heal on someone else outside of Lay on Hands has saved some of my party members from several really dumb deaths.

ive played them all, in terms of fun warrior is leading the pack for me. honestly dont care about the rest even though my main is a guardian.

Currently Warrior has favorable damage and threat output, but come 8.2 changes to thunderclap/avatar synergy with unstoppable force talent are being greatly reduced. Also, essences are going to throw everything for a loop.

How will BDK land in 8.2? Any changes? I plan to start tanking for my guild here pretty soon.

Bear threat isn’t an issue currently, so no.

That’s objectively false.

No, they can time 27s though.

BDK will continue to be a tier one tank, along with paladin, brm, and warrior.

Drez, when you respond simply stating the opposite of someone it doesn’t help to fix incorrect knowledge. So if you could please elaborate.

Guardian’s damage is currently ranked third overall of the 6 tanks, both in st and mt. That should not, as far as I can tell, qualify as having an issue with threat.

M+ this season

  1. Prot warr: good aoe dps and threat generation.
  2. Blood dk: good utility and add positioning.
  3. Brewmaster monk: easy to heal, good mobility, and ok threat generation.
  4. Vengeance dh: good threat generation and mobility, but on the squishy side.
  5. Prot pally: decent all around. Good utility.
  6. Guardian druid: unfortunately slow and low aoe dps.

Raids
Not really sure how to classify most, except for
6. Vegeance dh: low self heals and low damage mitigation makes for a bad combo.

Prot pally is actually the second most successful tank in season 2, the rest is pretty much right on point.

I find it really amusing how everyone always wants to rate Prot Pal low at the beginning of each season yet they always seem to be right near the top, but never the top.

I think it’s because they aren’t really the best at anything, but they can do a lot of different things decently. For instance their shield block isn’t as good as a prot warr because a prot warr can have 100% up time, they have good utility, but so do a few other tanks, and their mobility isn’t that great.

I main a BDK and I run questing, dungeons, and raids. The BDK has fantastic magic mitigation with anti-magic shield, marrowrends bone shield provides great physical mitigation, and of course there is the survivability with death strike and vampiric blood. Yes we are slower to get to the target, but we make up for it with our crispy grips and gorefiends grasp. Definitely my favorite tank, though admittedly my only other tanking experiences are from prot paladin and prot warrior. All options are viable for the right player, just pick what is the most fun for you!
