Why is this a thing? Conceptually it might sound reasonable, don’t turn around when fighting an Enemy, but when actually being implemented, it’s horrible.
Is it really an enjoyable mechanic to execute? Obviously you already have to face an enemy for your spells to cast but…
I’m a healer main and I’m incredibly annoyed with tanks dying in literally 1 hit from getting hit in the back.
I know many people will say “git geud”, but step back for a second to consider,
If you are a tank: are you genuinely fulfilled maintaining correct orientation? Or it is just second nature, and on the other hand, how does it feel when you make a mistake and die to one hit in the back?
Mobs can sometimes waddle around and mechanics might cause you to shift positions and, boom, you get folded like a napkin.
Honestly I see this happen the most when mobs are being collected. And no this isn’t alow keys thing. this happens at all key levels, even the 15’s and 16’s I’m running.
It’s definitely one of those things that probably wouldn’t exist if the game was designed today, but has stuck around because it made sense a long time ago and nobody cares enough to change it.
So… you like when a tank gets booped outta the blue and your key ends up most likely bricked?
You know tanks have… other more engaging mechanics right?
Legitimately a skill issue. Different tanks are different but learning how to gather mobs without getting hit in the back is one of the most important and fundamental skills as a tank.
At least for brewmaster getting hit in the back can be useful to force an elusive brawler dodge on a big hit. But we all know how wonderfully designed brew is.
Both. It’s a bare minimum expectation and simple task, but you can feel a sense of accomplishment when you’re able to execute it consistently and skillfully. It feels good to be able to gather packs well, even though you’re in danger and a mistake could kill you.
I just hold strafe and side-skip, can’t get hit in the back if you don’t show your back. I don’t think I’ve ever been flattened from behind, but who knows.
It’s an important mechanic/lesson to learn but it’s just muscle memory now.
