Talents dosent matter, its just gonna be the same thing as you have now just gonna have to check it off again , its all an illusion
You can’t keep adding new buttons every expansion. Some of the classes already have that as a premium(looking at you my holy priest)
I’m shocked you made this conclusion without once mentioning the cluster that is Shadowlands Legendary Powers.
Agree with your comments on S3, but hard disagree on the talents thus far.
Very interesting to see what they do for Mages. Obviously interested in Druid/DK/Priest, but I don’t play those so I can’t say if good /bad
Same, though the new trees don’t address one of the worst parts of the MoP talent overhaul which is inability to cross-spec. Prior to MoP several classes benefitted considerably from that ability and its effects were never fully replaced in the MoP system (e.g. I can’t empower two schools of spells like I could in Cata).
Some classes and some specs within some classes have it really well. For some others… if you dont pick that right spec it can mean the difference between topping charts or being near rock bottom.
- You used improper grammar.
- You are wrong.
My only issue is, as I’ve said in every thread so far -
Trap/Dead talents should not exist. Same with trap baseline skills. Smite being baseline for Shadow Priest is a prime example of this. New players won’t know better.
This is no different than how the unpruning in SL added trap skills like Arcane Shot for survival.
Trap skills that make new players who don’t want to go to outside sources to learn their class suffer are not good.
Likewise, dead talents like the +10% damage to holy nova if you’re shielded shouldn’t exist - if you are using nova, aoe damage is going out, which means your shield will be insta-gone. A simple rework to something like “Your holy nova does 10% more damage for X seconds after using Power Word: Shield” would be not dead, still pretty useless, but at least somewhat aoe viable.
Even with 100% uptime, it would be smarter to spend that one global on another holy nova than a PW:S. If it was something like 20-30% increase, it would be good. Not really any synergy there though
Agreed, that was my main enjoyment of trees in general. A rather shame that the possibility of cross spec is not there.
And there will no doubt be addons that let you switch complete talent sets at a mouseclick. So that folks can (and will) hyperspecialize for bosses and such.
They took old abilities and talents and put them into a tree, and threw in covenant abilities, artifact abilities and new abilities. While simultaneously allowing for new ability combinations… this isn’t interesting to you?
I’ve slowly realized how important packaging is in marketing. This is all the same stuff we’ve always had but if you put it in a different wrapper then you make a bunch of simple minded people happy.
Pretty much yeah. People like feeling catered to even if the thing they want contradicts what they say they want. So lomg as its dressed up as “this is what youve been asking for!” Or “back by popular demand!” People will eat it up.
If I’m not misreading it that’s actually a feature that’s being built directly into the DF talents pane. The ability to quickly swap hyperspecializations is an intentional part of DF’s design.
I’m pretty happy the talent trees are returning. Wish I could say I was excited about the Holy Priest one though, but I can’t. Lightwell being the end game talent option shows they don’t know what to do with Holy Priests.
I have mixed feelings about the trees. Now, I am for talent trees. But what I have see with the DK tree for example doesnt really thrill me as I had hoped. IDK, just feels like the same as the talent choices, but in a tree format. Everything looks like it will end up just pigeon holed into a single meta for the type of content the player wants to do (PvP, Raid or Dungeon builds), but I hope this doesnt end up being the case. I would like to see more mixed up trees, but not in a way that removes any current functionality we already have now with the base specs.
They shouldn’t be. I doubt they are happy with anything in SL cause the players aren’t.
No the goal is to have actual class design again which we haven’t had in several expansions.
What exactly is class design in this context?
MOP + was far better.
At least I could adjust them based on the content, not the same boring 5/5 down the line.
