Talanji is a hypocrite

So we got introduced to Talanji this expansion, The Horde are introduced first as a character that was captured along side Zul while she was on her way to Orgrimmar to seek assistance from the Horde.

This is after the events of Teldrassil and the near genocide of the Nightelf people.

She is then rescued by the Horde and seems to resent the Alliance for capturing her. This is the first thing that doesn’t make sense she basically is travelling with a character who tried to raise all troll tribes in opposition of the Alliance. What did she expect to happen when she attempted to ally the Zandalar with the Horde?

Any way moving on, she makes her way back to Zandalar with the Horde champion and Nathanos where the Zanadlar sink an alliance fleet. Once home she Convinces her father to trust the Horde and so the horde go about fixing all they’re problems.

However then we come to King Rastakahn’s decision to ally with Boswandi. Nobody on the alliance forced this decision he made that himself.

They also seem to assist the Horde in attacking the Kul’tirians a couple of times before actually joining the Horde officially.

So the Alliance attacks them and sinks their fleet and attacks their city, they’re main objective is to get to King Rastakan and get him to surrender. Although she hears the news second hand from a Bias scout. although when she does reach her father he doesn’t die because of his wounds but because of the power Boswandi gave him is killing him, Though she still blames the Alliance for his death.

So my point is that she is basically the reason for her fathers death. She reached out to the Horde after they had initiated a war with the alliance. She traveled with a known aggressor towards the Alliance. Then she complains demands vengeance against them for the attack.

The fact is the Alliance never would have involved the Zandlari in the war if she hadn’t been trying to ally with the Horde. She brought the war to her own people and she should shoulder some of the Blame.

If she had been smart and reached out to the Alliance for help she may have saved her people without all these issues.

from my understanding, the Zandalari were not aware of Zuls actions. The senior leadership thought they sent zuls expedition on a reconaisance/humanitarian mission to aid the other troll tribes. Zul…expanded the scope of his mission (essentially Zul went rogue without the king or princess finding out).

If true, then it does make sense for Talanji and Rastakhan to be taken aback by the alliance actions and likely chalk it up to racism against the trolls.

Talanji being the reason for her fathers death is a bit of a stretch. Yes she did bring the war to her home, but she was desperate. If she did not ally with the horde, zandalari would have likely fallen to the various old god aligned forces, albeit years down the road.

and lets be clear, the alliance/horde have slaughtered entire troll tribes for basically existing throughout wow. There is now only one major troll character left in wow (who was introduced in this expansion).

Oh No, they were aware of his actions and apparently King Rastakhan disapproved of it. However he kept zul on his council.

You mean the Old god forces that Zul orcestated to take over? I mean if she had stayed in Prison with Zul and Suarfang. I doubt the old god related forces on the Isle would have managed to get free and attack.

The Alliance hasn’t killed any Troll champion that wasn’t already at war with the Alliance. Nor had they wiped out any tribes completely until they attacked the Alliance.

To be fair, if a sector of people murdered your father I don’t think you’d be having a rational binary mindset about it either.

Yet The Alliance didn’t murder him he was alive when we left him. he was just being destroyed by Boswandis power, Something he brought on himself.

To be fair he wouldnt be being destroyed if he hadnt been attacked.

Those old god forces were there before zul came back, and were pushing the zandalari back. The blood trolls were on the brink of overruning zandalar defenses, and the setharak were on the verge of releasing mythrax. All zul did was accelerate the time table and unite them. However either threat would have been enough to destroy zandalar on their own.

As far as your last statement

Ice trolls.

True, but he had his forces help the Horde attack the Alliance first. Kinda brought the Invasion on himself. It was silly for him to think they Alliance wouldn’t respond in kind.

and the alliance imprisoned his daughter on a diplomatic mission and then invaded with their navy chasing her down.

listen like most conflicts that last awhile there is more than enough ammunition on both sides for blame.

Ice trolls had been attacking the dwarves for years, Even killed Magni’s wife yet he never wiped them out.

Varian showed up and rallied the Dwarves to fight back because the Ice trolls were invading the Dwarves in mass because of Zul.

She was the Daughter of a Nation that had started a war with the Alliance who was seeking an alliance with The Horde that had just committed to a world war with the Alliance. Of course the alliance wasn’t just going to let her go on her way.

in northrend?

We slaughtered the entire tribe there who was only trying to survive against the scourge.

That wasn’t the Alliance though, pretty sure both Horde and Alliance were working with the Ebon Blade to pull that off. Not to mention they were destroying their LOA which I think we assist in fighting back.

what do we give a crap if they kill their loa as a method of defending themselves from the scourge?

I mean come on, jungle trolls, ice trolls, gurubashi, hinterland trolls, desert trolls.

after awhile it just kinda looks racist.

We killed Zul’Jin because Bud and friends wanted to loot Zul’Aman.

Pretty sure that was because they started to attack the Bloodelves again. The alliance just showed up to help with Veressa ironically

which could be argued was their land to begin with until the elves kicked them out

Hey the Horde had be brutally killing them all as well, yet Alliance were the racist ones. I mean we had been helping Voljin Kill them to prevent Zul taking over back in Cataclysm

Even worked with the Zandalar back in vanilla as well.

hey i agree the horde and alliance are both in the same boat (although mostly for gameplay reasons rather than lore reasons)

however, im just going to throw this out there.

We dont have a prominent family named trollbane.

Nope. In TBC, everything involving the Zul’Aman raid is straight up a bunch of mercenaries wanting to loot the place. You’re thinking of Cata, which was Zul rallying the Amani to get vengeance for Zul’Jin.

Also, we killed the Sandfury trolls in Zul’Farrak for reasons never really articulated well either. Some Nelf had issues with them in Vanilla due to their epic sword, and later some troll of theirs basically wanted us attacking them as revenge for them killing him (even though he was trying to steal the sword in the first place). It is a pretty nice sword though.

More to the point though…

We don’t actually know how or why Talanji was captured. We never get the details behind that, or how Sylvanas knew about it. This remains true even in BoD - Talanji’s capture is simply never brought up again by either side. The meta reason is that the Horde players absolutely must know that Saurfang is super sad and would prefer to sit in jail rather than help them.

As for her father being killed, yes the Alliance are still on the hook for that. Rastakhan basically had a latent medical condition, and the Alliance attacking him triggered it. Yes, the condition killed him, but they were the initial trigger for it. They’re still on the hook for it.

In truth, the Alliance attacking BoD was basically their version of War of Thorns, but with just enough wiggle room left for them to pat themselves on the back and say we’re totally not evil here because we didn’t burn the town to the ground, and we even graciously let them bury all their dead. Because Anduin can do no wrong.
