Taking control of a guild question

On my main I am stuck in a dead guild that hasn’t had people come online in like 1-2 years.

Say if I wanted to take control of a guild and kick the old people to try to get something going for TWW, will the old GM/people know it was me?
( assuming they ever came back? )

I dont want any hard feelings but it’s been so long and Id like to try to do bring back the guild for TWW.

I think they would? Still you have to be a officer to take control of a guild with a inactive gm. I am pretty sure blozzard washed their hands of transfering control after the automated system came out.

It will be kind of hard to hide yourself as the new GM. I have acquired two guilds this way, but they are just extra storage today. I once had the original GM ask for a guild back. I cleaned it out. Returned it to him and once again he never logged in and I ended up with it back.

Basically, ya you can’t hide it was you but if the original GM ever wants it back you can decide what to do at that point as well. You don’t have to do anything. The fact you want to try and make something out of the guild is enough in my book.

What’s your reason for wanting to kick the old members? Most of them probably won’t be back anyway.

You’re talking about a mutiny.

So what if I disband just after taking control? Using whatever funds to just make a new guild? Could I still remain anonymous that way?

I just dont want anyone upset if they ever come back, but it doesn’t look like anyone plans to.

Well, if you disband the guild is gone.

But, that’s if your char has the ability to disband the guild, which would I beleive be determined by ranks.

The gm may or may not be back you never know. To do what yu are asking you would need control to do so.

There was a way to petition it if gm was gone for more than 90 days but I don’t recall how long ago that was or if is still a thing or not.

If they do come back, won’t they be upset that you disbanded their guild?

Or do you mean you don’t want them to know it was you?

When I took over our dead guild I did not kick anyone but I did cut off bank access and lower the guild access to nothing in order to prevent a hacked account from being able to loot the bank. Occasionally, some folks come back and I restore their access and this seems to be working out well.

The GMs can still transfer the guild under certain circumstances. I was in a guild that I took control of, I wasn’t an officer but the last time anyone was online was over 2 years. I opened a Ticket and it was transferred.

have you thought about /gquit and just joining another guild?

Not

Either just demote them so they can’t access anything and if they come back, you can promote them if you want. Otherwise, make your own guild. It’s a lot easier. You only need three signatures now.

How long ago?

They no longer do this. It’s completely automated now.

How long ago was that?

Blizzard Customer Support cannot assist with transferring the leadership.

Not really.

You can claim the leadership of your guild if your Guild Master has been offline for 90 consecutive days, and you are ranked second, third, or fourth in your guild roster .

MODERN WOW

To dethrone your Guild Master:

  1. Open Guild & Communities pane (default shortcut is J)
  2. Expand the pane fully using the arrow tab in the corner if it is minimized
  3. Click on the Info tab on the right side of the pane
  4. The Guild Master Inactive! message will appear in the Guild News on the right side of the pane

If you don’t see the option to dethrone, it means the Guild Master is active, you don’t have a high enough rank to claim the leadership, or an active guild member outranks you and is next in succession before you. To see your guild rank, find your guild on the World of Warcraft community site and view the Roster.

You can take control without kicking anyone. You don’t gain anything by kicking them anyways.

If theyve been gone for 2 years, they probably wont even remember what guild they were even in. If you are the only member, nothing is stopping you from kicking everyone and restarting. They can find a new active guild if they desire vs staying in a dead guild anyway.
