Every single time I see someone post or make a video about, “slow down, enjoy the game”, I immediately roll my eyes. For me the end game as almost always been ‘the game’. Let me get my pvp gear, let me get out into the world and gank. Going back to MoP and absolutely loving Timeless Isle, that has been my sole focus with WoW - world pvp.
During TBC I have leveled a rogue to 70 on alliance, a druid to 70, and a rogue to 70 on horde. My alliance rogue is night elf, great for wpvp but terribad for arena.
I’ve been kinda bored and feeling burnt on the game, so I decided that I was going to level another rogue - human. I really wanna get better at arena and this is the way. But I made the conscience choice to slow level. To turn on the game music, to level up my professions as I go, to not worry about how fast I got there, and just enjoy the vibes.
I want to apologize to all the folks who’ve suggested - take it slow, slow down, enjoy the game. For me, you are completely right. I have absolutely been enjoying my slow journey to level 14. Getting my professions taken care of. Helping out others who needed a hand. Taking more breaks. And just soaking in what drew me into this game in the first place.
While I prefer Horde, the questing in Ewlynn Forest and Westfall is just such an amazing experience. The music, the questlines, people buffing each other and helping each other. I’m glad that I decided to just go slow and enjoy it.
The end game is still ‘the game’ for me but this time we’re going to enjoy getting there verses feeling stressed about how quickly we’re getting there.
The human 1-30 questing experience is one of the better leveling paths. Starting out just helping farmers kill a pesky pig eating their crops and stuff to uncovering a zone spawning conspiracy to undermine the Alliance was a really good leveling hook.
Those who prefer to rush to the end game are more suited for retail, classic is about the journey, the adventure, not rushing to the end-game to simply raid log…
I disagree. I’ve rushed a few times in TBC because for ME, the end game is what’s fun. I’ve leveled nearly 90 characters across retail, Wrath Classic, and Cata Classic. End game wpvp in TBC is a LOT of fun. I think it’s important to not make a generalization and state that its a personal preference for you. Also, don’t forget that TBC is a very rushed xpac, so for a lot of folks, including myself, the end game is what has mattered. That said, like I mentioned in the original post, I am really enjoying this play through.
A major problem with the “take it slow” approach (as it relates to Anniversary TBC) is the accelerated timeline and the absolute lack of any communication whatsoever about what happens at the end of said accelerated timeline.
Yeah I agree with this for the most part honestly. Not saying you need to mix/max leveling and stuff but these servers are kind of made to be played for end level.
Taking it slow on classic versions of the game like hardcore is peak gaming though.
Seems like folks missed the part where I have 3 70s already and am just taking it slow on my 4th time leveling and my 3rd rogue. It doesn’t matter how short TBC is, I’ll hit 70 well before the server shuts down. This community is so negative and that’s kind of a bummer.
I don’t really think anyone was even being negative here just that there are different opinions based on the context of what “taking it slow” is and when and where to use it.
Taking it slow is 100% my favorite way to play wow. But like for me in tbc I personally don’t get any enjoyment out of it and that’s fine. I’m glad you are!
I understand the concept I do it all the time I just personally don’t think tbc, for me, is where I would apply it.
I think the devs were overt in their hatred of night elves there. you get astranaar….and that is it.
And a few quests you must choose wisely.
Doh, you went right and not left. Now that finger of a hill/mountain says walk your butt back now. The quest giver is up a path on the left side of the hill. You aren’t climbing over that hill.
And then its the high animal density too. I was trying to avoid them. I want to speed walk after my screw up. They see me. I didn’t want to kill bears there when lost. They could have lived. They chose that fate lol.
For an added burn, they are grey half the time so crap xp.
That’s the beauty of WoW, to some end game raiding is the most important, to others its PvP, and to others its just leveling alts. Many communities playing the game how they like
Also if world PvP is your thing might I suggest priest, nothing more cruel then shoving lowbies into chimneys
I’d agree. Humans are a close second since they have a nice straight line with just the slight westfall detour.
When my NS experiment BE rogue closes out her intro 20 I may not take the usual undead route. Since yeah…when tauren and arathi red out guess where you go. Horde path I’d already be where I need to be.
Well that and in the chars NS guild chat I read bored high level alliance from souths shore seems to like messing with noobs by tauren lol. Barrens is a big place. I’d prefer to have a 70 have to walk a bit for thrill kills lol.
I don’t wanna hear this crap, I beta tested this freaking game. I was here before probably like 85% of you and I absolutely HATE “The Journey”. Every time one of you spews that crap I think of “The Message” that they keep trying to put in our Movies/TV shows now. So please stop with the blanket statements.
And how many times do you guys have to go through Westfall killing Wolves before you wanna gouge your eyes out…
If this was a new experience I could see wanting to “Stop and smell the roses”, but most of us have made like 50 alts by now….And the fact that they make so much money with boost proves that point, people really don’t give a Hoot about “the Journey” mainly because they have been through it like 200 times..
