The tabard and rep system would encourage players to run dungeon content even if they outgear it. I would think creating those types of incentives for players to group up for content is better than having everyone grinding WQs and dailies solo.

Today you join a party and kill the thing then disband. That’s it. Done. No interaction with each other.
Instances in a given area should have always granted reputation for said area. Not sure why they removed that process, I guess to better help them micro manage the gating of certain content but it is annoying.
Daily limits on reputation were fine when you had items that you could trade for reputation.
What we got now is just waiting for like a month, being limited to small daily farms of reputation, which aren’t really farms, just doing WQs.
It’s disgusting.

Tabards made getting reputation too fast. By slowing the progression of reputation gains, they ensure you spend more time subscribed.
Damn I loved Wrath rep and gearing. You got to what - Friendly through questing? Then you pick up the rep’s tabard and boom, anything you do gains rep with them. It was so simple yet elegant.
Then the reputation vendors had actual good rewards. Gaining exalted with each rep was doable before Naxxramas released, and each rep vendor had items that were pre-raid BiS for a lot of classes. Now in BfA? By the time you’re exalted with a faction that gives a 340 piece, you’re already at 360 ilvl. It’s ridiculous.
So spamming the same dungeons is better? Seems like a remembering the past better than it really was. The would still lock the “mandatory rep” behind dailies like the sons of hodir though. They have never went all in on tabards give rep.
They don’t insure that at all. They ensure they make players mad by time gating everything.
