Does anyone miss the ability to gain rep by doing dungeons wearing a tabard?
I’m really missing this right now. I know that pre-patch is coming and opening the allied races becomes a basic walk in the park at that point… However, I’m trying to unlock Vulpera before then, and I’m literally like 6K rep away from doing so, and unfortunately the world quests don’t respawn nearly fast enough (in my opinion).
I really wish we had the ability to still gain rep while using a tabard, even if it would only give 20 rep per kill, at least that would be something!
Heck, I’d even be happy with 5-10 rep per kill… I’d take just about anything over nothing.
My personal opinion is they should divide the rep gain up among different tasks.
For instance:
First, there is a questline to get to friendly with factions A, B, C, D and E. Then A and B require repeat quests (dailies, weeklies, local, world, whatever), C and D require tabard dungeon runs and E requires participation in one of the endgame activities as in raids, PvP or expansion features. (And every one features at least one mount. And not an ugly one!)
Personally, my favourite rep gathering experience was the Netherwing dailies. Second, was the Argent Tournament. But to each there own.
Honestly, that sounds fantastic! It would vary the rep grind perfectly, so that you never get “bored” of one thing, and you at least have a way to progress on a regular basis.
I understand their desire to time gate things so that it allows content to be done over a longer period of time, and so people can’t just “bum rush” through something. However, at the same time, sitting here at a stalemate watching the map indefinitely and waiting on world quests to finally respawn, pretty much ruins the entire thing for me at this point.
I really like your idea of breaking it up over multiple different avenues and allowing for more varied gameplay. (I also agree with the mounts, and pets too please!)
Netherwing was so fun. I remember all the PvP stuff going on in that cave when you needed to farm eggs. So much fun… sap take egg if the trink then either
Kill them or blind and take egg
I don’t miss it, and I think it was dumb when we had it.
Adventurer: “I’m going into this dungeon to kill stuff!”
Faction: “We don’t care.”
Adventurer: “I’m going into this dungeon to kill stuff AND I’LL WEAR YOUR LOGO LIKE A NASCAR DRIVER!”
Faction: “Oh you’re the best! Here’s a bunch of rep!”
I’d love if they did the old school tabard way but in the respective content, like 5-15 rep per kill with a tabard on in BFA dungeons if that makes sense. So you can’t max rep in like 30 minutes doing lowbie dungeons and you still have to wait and queue. I’m sure someone could figure out a way to cheese this but time gating content is a cheap and lazy method to water down and lengthen content…
I want rep tabards for all factions.
Rep is such an antiquated gaming concept, I’d be better off with it vanishing altogether, but tabards will do as well.
Agree. I’d be more inclined to do more stuff overall if I could sit down and go through it quickly then move on to the next, instead of doing a little of one then on to another but by bit.
I swear the NPCs have gotten so lazy. It wasn’t like this in my day, I can tell you!
Anyway, what they should have explained to you is that the tabard works like a conduit for specific mobs in specific situations and each time you dealt with one it would channel some of their power back to the faction.
What so you mean, how exactly? How would I know? Do I look like a mage?
Oh wait, I am a mage.
Fine, it works on the same principle as the conduit between your bank and you bags that allows you to craft out in the field despite not having all the mats physically in your bag. Anything more in depth than that is above my pay grade.
Now, if you will excuse me, I need to have a word with some NPCs!
