If I remember correctly, during SL season 1 (9.0) i payed 692k for the dreadnaught helm and around 150k for the gloves. This was back when I was on Barthilas.
The only good tier 3 sets are warrior and rogue every other set should sell for like 1-3k each piece. its not my fault though that ppl have bad taste.
My third T3 set is complete - Shaman is done! Nowhere near a cost that implies 2.8 mil for the set.

I think I’ve made my point. You don’t need to spend nearly 3 million on a single T3 set.

I find that to be quite doubtful. I’m 6/8 on my Dreadnaught set and have spent roughly 500k on all of those pieces, before I learned to shop around.

a few weeks ago the belt went to 300k
I suppose if you take the most convenient way possible then perhaps you can find a way to spend that much, but you don’t have to come anywhere near close to paying that if you put in a bit of effort. My point is that you don’t have to pay 2.8 mil for a full T3 set if you don’t want to. Not even close.
I spent a little more on the Dreadnaught Gauntlets than I wanted to tonight - 210k. Still well below the 280k price for vendor mats though
