Blizz finally realized what we’ve all said all along. wow is just a skinner box and mount collecting is the main focus of the game now.

- I’m not “the GD.” I can’t and don’t speak for everyone.
- This really wasn’t a complaint thread. Maybe a little? It’s more of a “holy crap I had no idea”
- Where have I ever complained about too much or too little content? That was never even brought up
- Where did I complain about borrowed power

The management seems wonky at blizzard.
Mounts get this much attention when proffs have been dead for years?
It literarily feels like they just pick whatever is popular and focus development on that, when the rest of the game just dies.

They should not be responsible for your mount collecting addiction / fetish.
You’re a big boy, you can handle not immediately having all the mounts.
New content in wow now is mounts LMAO

HOLY POOP! That is a lot of mounts. I knew there were a bunch but wowsa that’s a lot. Now I have to figure out how to get a few that I like lol.
(and Tovi - you are not crazy. I may be a bit crazy though because of my cookbook collection lol)

Personally, I think they did it for a few reasons. The complaints about new mounts in the Cash Shop and to keep players busy knowing full well there were going to be content droughts.

Edit: Ok maybe a little be less than 17 years ago. It was whenever they removed unarmored epic mounts and I couldn’t afford one.

Yeah I knocked out all the easy ones.
What’s crazy to me is I have 552 mounts and if I get all these knocked out between now and 9.2, I will have 650ish mounts. That’s going to by the achievement / removed Statistics Page count. 700 if you’re going by the Armory / Mount tab count.
That’s completely insane.

I understand. Unfortunately that is one of GD’s issue. Players give feedback but are oblivious to the feedback blizzard is getting from other players.
So when one person says “too many mounts” and another person posts “not enough mounts” 10 minutes later, we go round and round in a circle of player feedback that negates itself. Then GD wonders why blizzard makes changes.
I have never and would never play a warlock.

That’s an awesome list and I sincerely don’t know how this compares to other expansions, but I think it’s a good thing. The only conundrum would be the acquisition method I think. Hopefully these are obtained more via actions and less “hope it’s in the paragon chest,” like Legion.
Incidentally, I saw someone in Bastion general yesterday stating they were going to summon Sundancer if anyone wanted to help. I had never tried that and wanted to see the fight more than anything - I’m incredibly picky about my mounts, going so far as being anxious to “unlock” the ones I had no intention of flying because it seemed…gluttonous for a paladin…ahem, anyway…
So, I get invited, I help Murder-Death-Kill the hideous beast, and the damn mount drops for me not the one who spawned it. No problem, I open trade and wanted to give it to them - it’s a cool mount but I felt like they should have it, they’re wanted it. Nope, couldn’t trade. Then I thought, oh let me give this person more of the gliders to try again tomorrow. No, different servers.
Anyway, this was a dumb rant…it transitioned more to a “smh” to connected realms.

I think more mounts is generally a good thing. You want a shadehound mount but don’t want to do twisting corridors? You’ve got options. In 9.1, you want a hand mount but don’t raid? You have alternatives to the meta achievement mount.
You don’t need all the mounts. If you choose to go for all the mounts, that’s a you thing.
Side-note, as much as I like the Shadowlands dungeons, the Dungeon achievements annoy me this expansion. Still haven’t done SL Dungeon Hero even though I did get my Nathria Hero done earlier this week.
See, having ample amounts of mounts/pets to collect is actually a huge plus for WoW IMO.
They don’t shove 99% of the mounts/pets behind a cash shop or worse loot boxes (ESO…) and you can collect as many as you want. It’s probably one of the last true “PvE” casual things to do besides mogging that I enjoy.
But…if they were to like cut the mount dev time in half and allocate the cut half to player housing, I’d be more than okay with that

Agreed. That’s a good point regarding alternative acquisition paths. I don’t know what you mean about the dungeon achievements this time around - legit haven’t even looked at 'em. Are they more tedious compared to last expansion(s)?

That’s a good way of looking at it and an avenue I didn’t think of. In that case maybe this mount bloat isn’t all bad.
Yes… I know that. I never implied that I have a collecting problem and that it’s Blizzard’s fault. I’m just shocked at how many mounts they have added this expansion. I want to say it’s double the number from previous xpacs.
