System whiners got their wish

Wow, someone coming out in favour of AP style grinds.

Never thought I’d see the day…

For the record OP. Shadowlands didn’t have an AP style grind either. It did just fine as far as the amount of content at end-game was concerned.

Hmm the reality of the Legion/early BfA raiding scene doesn’t agree that it was a “find a better guild” issue. Just look at what happened with the first round of Azerite gear :dracthyr_crylaugh: The bell curve of performance determining entry is a real thing, and you’re a fool if you ignore the deliberate benchmarking Blizzard did after releasing EN balanced the way it was.

I’m honestly expecting similar amounts of crying of “nothing to do” with DF as we saw with WoD.

Then it’s a matter of is it ok for the game to go back to focusing on dungeons/raids/PvP.

Systems are worthless because they do not carry over. At least dragon riding will be fun. Hopefully they make more dungeons this expac and a few extra but smaller raids.

The keeping up with the Joneses part was part of what Blizzard built into their systems. Yes they eventually came up with catch up mechanics, but they still weren’t a gimmie. If you weren’t logging in every day to do your AP grind etc… That is gone and I am thanking Elune.

There is something to do, it’s called dragonriding grinding.

As far as I read. This is a good thing. Now you get to make your own fun, be it leveling tons of alts, pvping, mount-collecting, running M+ until your fingers fall off or raiding.

I shouldn’t be surprised that ‘No AP style grind’ is being turned into a negative aspect, jeez.

Yep I expect it. Halfway through we’ll probably see tons of posts about how it’s “raid or die” and the game only caters to raiders.

Ehh, I doubt it, because there will actually be a ton of stuff to do in DF at end-game. WoD actually didn’t have stuff to do at end-game, not when compared to previous expansions (which had multiple zones with daily quests that you could do).

In WoD, at least at launch there was one main daily quest that you could do. Just one. And that was always a ‘go to x location and grind a bar’ type quest. And depending on the area in question and how much competition there was, your bar grind could be extremely slow.

Hey but did you see the new mini games? Dragon races, wall climbing, pokemon snap. There’s stuff to do.

This is what they all do when they have no argument.

No. There’s a new mini game coming where you float on a raft and take photos.

knowing the community? they will say it’s just mobile game features and that they don’t like them or something.

hes spot on with that raiders attitude. Ive seen them myself tossing tantrums just because they might have to run some side quests to get to max level lmao.
Theyve been catered to enough by Ion at this point.
This game has MORE to it than raiding and its time Ion started accepting that fact and NOT trying to keep the rest of us going with mindless busywork number grinds (anima and other similar trash systems)

So daily hubs for cosmetics are the MMO foundation that glues the game together?

Then as it stand you’re getting enough progression and things to do at the start of Dragonflight xpac.

There is actually a fair amount of content to do end game compared to WoD in DF so not really a fair comparison.

After playing beta myself for awhile DF might be the first expansion since MoP I’ll want to actively maintain alts.

Is this the game where you scoff regardless of what I link?

Well I guess I should have been more specific. It’s not just the AP grind but other things in general. Like I mentioned earlier, the grinds in Korthia and ZM as ways to upgrade your gear solo.

I agree.

It’s not a bad thing for an MMORPG to ‘run out of things to do.’ Shadowlands is a constant needy grind and it’s unbelievably annoying.

A much bigger concern for MMORPG’s isn’t whether or not the game is fun but instead whether or not you have to engage in annoying, tedious, busy work to get to the fun stuff.
