System whiners got their wish

I feel like they should make some BIS items obtainable through open world content to replace systems content. classic used to have multiple BIS PVE items obtainable through getting exalted reputations with certain groups.

Where I’m at right now, I need 850,000 anima if I want everything. That kind of grind is brutal, and while yeah I can work on it after Shadowlands, that’s still a ridiculous grind. And that’s not even considering weapons or mounts I’m missing.

Honestly I’m still very bitter that Blizzard made the brain dead decision to not just reward the Renown pieces via, you know, Renown. The fact you unlocked the ability to buy the pieces is such poor design.

I had plenty of time in Wrath and Cat to do everything I wanted. I raided, I played alts. I farmed my own herbs for pots/flasks and mats for cooking feasts. What I didn’t have to was a second 9-5 job to keep up with the Joneses.

I used to really enjoy making feasts and food for my raid team with fish recipes way back. It got a lot less fun when every minute I spent fishing and gathering was a minute the friends I was working for were getting stronger. Felt actually punished for playing the game “wrong”

I do miss the Legion fishing pole artifact and Margos’ retreat. Good times…

What do we have so far? I know of professions, dragonflying, and the dragon covenants. It seems a bit light.

You’re not going to get this grand none group instanced gearing system, that is going to give you gear that is as good as raiding or mythic + gear that you’re able to do on a daily basis. Not at the beginning of a new xpac. It is not going to happen, Progression for gear has always been your basic gear from leveling, then into heroic dungeons with some crafted. When raiding opens up and now days mythic + you do that. Yes, there has also been a bump at times in World Quest gear that gives you some level the same as heroic dungeon or basic mythic dungeon gear at best that or LFR gear level.

Not sure how people keep asking for end xpac catch up mechanics at the start of every xpac makes much sense. It still doesn’t feed the need for entertainment beyond a week or two anyways. I not sure what people are expecting or truly wanting, every time Blizzard puts busy work in for the casual they scoff at it, as simply being chores and underneath them to do.

what’s with the obsession with keeping up with the joneses though? there will always be someone ahead of you. just worry about yourself and if you have a guild, your guild’s progress.

who cares if a dude named eugene who hasn’t been outside in a month has more progress lol.

That’s all I ever did anyway, so LMAO

It was fun to do and yeah it took time away from doing raid and dungeon but i did make that up later on.

If you mean there is little to do that gives you pure power? You may be right.

On the other hand there is a TON to do if you enjoy crafting, pets, mounts, exploration, fishing, etc. They have factions with Renown that does not grant power, but does grant a lot of other stuff, including profession patterns and what not. All the professions have talent trees now too, including gathering.

As a casual player who is usually solo, I am looking forward to it.

AP grinds are boring, mindless, and not fun. Sorry but it just makes it too hard to play alts(why BFA was my least played expansion). I love alts so I always have stuff to do. Frankly adding systems so people feel like they are “working” on something with mindless grinds, isn’t adding fun to the game. It’s making the game a chore. And if you want chores, just make up your own mindless tasks. Tell yourself you have to run all the old raids weekly, or run 50 M+ a week, or something. You can make up your own pointless task if you need a reason to login.

It really depends on how much of a pillar crafting becomes honestly. If they are able to pull it off then there should be a decent enough shift to just pursuing a craft or two from a time perspective.

M+ is like 10ish hours a week for me (queue/travel/doing the content). ZM at release was like 5ish hours for 4 weeks. The raid is probably two nights at 3 hours each? If I wanted to pvp, arenas are easily 5+ hours a week. That’s almost 30 hours, or 4 hours a night. I’m not touching crafting, farming, reps, mog farming, achievements, etc. honestly the drop to single raid nights and finishing the patch zone is a welcome time alleviation.

So if I work a 9-5, I have 6-9 every week night for 15 hours of that and rough 7 on sat/sun. That’s a full week…wtf more do you want mate. As the patch ages, I can pick up that grind on an alt or actually have time to do other stuff I like (in or out of the game).

If the game requires 8-12 hours a day to stay relevant I’d cancel my sub.

You do realize that a borrowed power system is not the same as end game zone content, right?

It becomes a problem when there was a not so insignificant part of your guild that were the Joneses.

Where did I ask for any of that?

I love how some people immediately make the extreme assumption that when I say I want ways to progress my character outside of group instanced content that I must mean I want mythic raid gear for tracing a pattern on the ground daily. I’m not saying that, so stop it.

then it looks like it’s time to find a guild with a similar schedule as you :dracthyr_shrug:

It is pretty clear that people like me who pointed out evergreen grinding systems were a horrible idea were ultimately vindicated when BfA and SL were so unpopular that Blizzard no longer has a point in the game’s history to point to to demonstrate how unpopular it was because it’d dipped below release numbers for '04.

Do you know what the difference between an endlessly reciprocating grind for AP and a complete lack of it is? Time. AP grinds were designed to waste your time.

Blizzard didn’t need to add another layer of grind that reinforced that fact.

Link me to two credible people who have made this claim.

I question whoe’s the profession for more the raider or the casual? More likely that would be gated for casuals that don’t raid or do dungeon run even mythic plus.
