You can accept one, see the character that the person who sent it is on, and if it’s not the character you were expecting, remove them as a friend.

Which is why i say, when we do get btags on forums, the changes should be delayed for a good 60 days and people given 2 free name changes for btags. When it’s over, their btag whether old or new will be shown.

so its perfectly fine to just accept btag requests we don’t know?

Citation needed.

The problem with that is most of the reasons provided when asked are based on either a misunderstanding of what btags do and how they work, or are just blatant lies intended to deceive others.

In this highly unusual scenario that is realistically never going to happen, one of the ways to deal with it is to accept, then remove if you accept the wrong one.

Once you remove them, it’s the same as if you never added them to begin with.

People don’t need valid reasons to disagree with Btags being implemented on the forum.

Just leave em alone and accept it.

Yeah people have a lot of alts. People make alts, post and then delete them. People use different accounts under the same B-tag. The problem is that it’s not an easy solution outside of just using B-tags like everyother Blizzard forum does. :dracthyr_shrug: . In the end we’ll see what changes Blizzard makes if any.

If they kept to “I just don’t want it”, that’s one thing.

The problem is the people who invent and spread lies about how they think btags enable stalking or harassment, both of which are false.

Hey you all make good points I’m not here to be contrarian, I don’t like the idea of using btags here, but I understand y’alls point

They just might exist in circumstances where that’s possible.

I’m sorry you don’t hold all the answers but that’s just how life can be.

Prove that one exists (that doesn’t rely on the hypothetical victim accepting a friend request), with documentation and evidence. Then we’ll entertain that possibility.

Actually Btags are our public names for all things Blizzard from games to their forums .

All of Blizzards games and forums for said games use Btags as you in game and forum identity with the exception of WoW. .

If you go to your btag name at the top of the screen and click , just below your btag with the numbers if you click on account settings it will take you to a page that says account over view.

On the left click on Account details and when the page changes scroll down to Battletags . This is what it says

BattleTag

[Purchase BattleTag Change ](javascript:void(0))

This name is your public identity in Blizzard games. The number next to your BattleTag is called your BattleTag Code. Your friends can use your BattleTag and BattleTag Code to find you on Battle.net Services.

So it isn’t nor has it ever been private . It’s a gamer tag or a twitter handle pretty much

but if btags are public, don’t you already know everyone’s btags on the forums then?

Dude. No.

This isn’t a court room or a committee.

Taking this waaaay out of proportion just for the sake of dumping on people who disagree with you.

No but that should be something that should be added honestly .

But just so you know people can add you as a friend just using your character name and server name without you knowing and can stalk you much easier that way then just knowing you btag.

They actually do. Because almost all the reasons i’ve seen are just honestly nonsensical and wouldn’t change much at all in how things work. Like your “Oh they will deny me of things” spiel, when that’s been happening since 2004. Btags wouldn’t likely change this majorly.

Because the judge will laugh any “case” you have out of the court.
