That’s true too. That’s kind of my concern going forward as well. The end of the faction conflict means future stories will largely be about the main characters and non-faction organizations fighting the latest threat to Azeroth.
And the Horde just doesn’t have that many well developed or prominent characters or organizations.
It’s hard to have sympathy for a race who willingly brought so much pain and death to the world they lived in, persisting even when they knew they were abominations and freaks.
Few Forsaken strayed away from this path and actually attempted to make good of their situation. And worse, they were complicit in many horrible deeds along the way.
So no, I have no sympathy for them. They shouldn’t even be alive. Hopefully, this final act by the one person they all likened to a goddess betraying and spitting on them convinces them to return to the grave once and for all.
Cavern? I’ve been browsing this forum for the past… hmmm, 4 hours or so? But yes it upsets me in terms of humanity in general putting out viewpoints of disgust for the self-preservation of those with a multitude of afflictions.
Which is why I asked whether you were RPing or not.
Edit: Which is also why I made the half-hearted cripple comment to allude to my assumption that said viewpoint you have (and that I’m upset about) went to real life, beyond the RP. Sad to see that you confirmed it.
So wait- because I have a negative viewpoint of a race of undead monstrosities who’ve committed numerous unspeakable crimes in a video game, you equate that to me feeling the same way of crippled and handicapped folk in real life?
Playing a role. From the original post I quoted you on, you and I both know that a majority of your desire won’t come to pass as this is an MMO with playable races which Blizzard isn’t going to delete which runs counter to said desire.
Knowing this obvious meta of the game, I asked if you were posting an RP opinion. You said no, so I assume said view now extends to the obvious meta I’m addressing that runs counter to your original post’s (that I quoted) explicit desire.
id say so, because they at least have somewhat of an idea on how to write the alliance, yet no idea on how to write the horde, unless they just leave them out (legion).
They definitely could. Maybe some Forsaken have a change of heart and work to better the world instead of destroy it. Maybe some decide to return to the grave. We all know numbers mean nothing in this game.
What you’re failing to do here is to separate an opinion on a fictional work from something in reality. And that’s a very dangerous path to tread. If you relate Forsaken to handicapped people in real life, then that’s a view you have. I don’t share this view.
I specifically emphasized deletion of the playable Forsaken race IE “returning to the grave” that you so happened to cut out. A deletion of any playable race, even the Forsaken, won’t happen in WoW’s lifetime.
What I’m failing at is understanding the context of your statement, is it RP or not? Are you acting out some role/viewpoint or is it genuine? As for relating RL to fiction, that tends to happen in consuming fiction in general; people enjoy the fantasies that they can identify to in real life. Not dangerous, that tends to be the standard practice.
And I honestly don’t blame them for it. With the Alliance, you can more or less pull out your standard fantasy tropes and stories and find good analogues.
The Horde is a whole other beast, made of races and cultures you usually don’t see featured as the sole protagonists in a fantasy story, so pretty much everything they do with them is kind of them experimenting. Blizzard trying to see what sticks, and/or trying their best to adapt tried and true tropes and story beats as best they can- with very mixed results.
Unfortunately, the one thing they seem most comfortable with is using the Horde as is as the classic army of savage monsters- offset with a handful of more “honorable savages” .
But when they succeed, we get stuff like Zandalar. Which I found awesome. I really wish more people got as much of a kick out of it as I did.
Iva pretty much only hates blood elves, so no, it is not me RPing as her. I’ve never RPed her on the story forums, nor do I intend to ever.
Again, this is not an act. This is how I really feel about the Forsaken.
Not everyone does this. I for one, separate fiction from reality and do it quite easily. Do you really think I fantasize about running around as a female, void-riddled elf in skimpy armor who summons demons to do her bidding?
I do, it really gives you a creative license, and the ability to think outside the box, but what happened? A rehash of MoP. Plus they have 15 years experience with it already.
They have not really ‘succeed’ since cata in terms of the mainline horde story. Sure minor things here and their like zuldazar but thats about it.
What about terms of next expansion? Did zul’dazar even matter that it more than likely gonna be alliance centered? Since now just about every power or interesting horde character has been killed?
