I don’t. Anger and love are tied very closely in the brain. But we are talking souls here. If Uther gets easily manipulated with half a soul and becomes a villain I am not surprised Slyvannas can too especially with the added stressors of life, being forsake, killing yourself, wanting to avoid Hell, trying to find a way to avoid that, needing more resources to help the horde and defend your own city, deal with genocide attempts by the living. Etc
To be fair they did that since classic with Varian.
That is why I’m saying they wrote themselves into a corner by writing Sylvanas to be capable of all of her emotions even after ICC and now they tried to retcon things by the “Soul split”.
I’d hardly call that the same thing. For starters it was done by a botched ritual from a dragon with zero relation to the Jailer or the Lich King, not to mention it wasn’t a splitting of Varian’s soul between a good and evil half, rather his personality between a courageous half and a submissive half
Its very similar though. Might have been the same type of magic.
and the Light and Tauren beliefs are similar enough to justify an idea close to Paladins, that doesn’t mean Tauren Paladins and Human Paladins are the same thing
Tauren’s believe in An’she, paladins believe in the light. Elune and An’she are bros. They could be the same thing. Like the tauren had different words for priests called seers and had them since vanilla. And in hearthstone a tauren seer is a priest card. So it’s just a language thing that means the same thing with different cultural aspects.
Like how the tidesages and shaman are the same thing but they aren’t.
You seem to have completely missed the point
Ya but her character is still better than Tyrande
"Bla bla bal revenge, Elune, Bla Bla Bla and fails at every turn.
God if any character needs to be flayed and displayed it’s Tyrande
My point is it’s a big world and we are just learning about domination magic. The mourneblade’s soul splitting magic and that broken ritual may have been the same types of magic. The ritual may have been accidental or not (dreadlord meddlying). As we have seen story plots change over time.
The soul splitting aspect leads me to believe either Anduin may have his soul split when we save him or Varian may come back and be related to the plot in the near future. Arthas is definitely coming soon.
And my point is they aren’t. Literally the only similarity is “one person is split into two”. The circumstances, the cause, the effect, hell even the motivation are completely different. To say “soul splitting isn’t a new thing because Varian’s personality was split in two back in Vanilla” would be like saying “there’s nothing new about Resident Evil Village because Sweet Home came out in 1989”
And even if it is the same thing, isn’t it a little too convenient that they decided to bring back this thing that hasn’t been on the radar since Vanilla just in time to be a convenient deus ex machina to try and redeem an irredeemable character? Especially since there’s been no build up to it. It feels like an asspull because there’s been no hint behind the scenes that this could be the case
With the Wolfheart comic it was a solid plot point because we saw it happen, and the whole story afterwards was about how the event changed characters’ lives. Here, it feels more like a convenient reason to excuse previously inexcusable actions. A retcon. A deus ex machina
Ok…
Choose
Was she serving the Jailer when she turned on Forsaken that wanted to leave? Or is she just Evil?
Was she serving the Jailer when she turned Teldrassil? Or is she just evil?
Was she serving the Jailer when she attempted to brainwash Darren Proudmore? Or just evil?
Was she serving the Jailer when she instigated a world-war and allied with evil fish people to kill untold thousands (be her own admission in the loyalist ending) or Was she just evil?
Was she serving the Jailer with the last line “They too will server death” or Was she just evil?
Her serving at least gives her somewhat of a moral “out” as opposed to her being a monster.
I touched on this in another thread.
I call it the “Buffy” rule - essentially that if you strip away a persons “soul” they are not dead; only slaves to their desires/self interest.
Technically the soul-split concept (assuming there was this much foresight - which I doubt) would be that they stole her soul at the end of Wrath - she has been an agent ever since that point (which aligns with her new “powers” we saw in Cata that Garrosh called her a bad word on) it might be something we just never saw comming - I doubt it - but anything is possible.
So Sylvanas did not have her soul split - she had her soul removed and it was that soul that actually was the Jailers leverage on Sylvanas.
Observe this…
And then this
So she knows he has a ole bag of souls and its possible she was aware that he had her own soul hostage.
I am still butthurt because in the first of the two videos ANDUIN LITERALLY TELLS HER WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN! and she just ignores the statement…
My theory is that Blizz will retcon Sylvanas and say that, as Queen of the Undead, she has been battling the Jailer for years by creating undead, thereby preventing their souls from being sucked into the Maw and being used for fuel for his deathrealm coup; but that she realized it wasn’t enough (because those stupid alliance types keep dying and going to the Maw - nevermind the thousands of nightelves she sent to the Maw by burning Teldrasil) and so since she became warchief, she has been pretending to ally with him, and always intended to betray him in the final raid boss encounter of the expac.
Whoever writes Sylvanas lore is a huge Hunger Game fan no doubt.
So in other words, she’s a Loki?
I think the story is fine. The only thing that was dumb was them censoring the insult Garrosh gave to her. Oh no, a swear word in a T rated game what ever will we do?
Funny the only people calling Sylvanas a mastermind are the ones who hate her saying she shouldnt be called a master mind.
Sooo who are you argueing with here? Or you just talking to yourself and other Sylvanas haters? So you can echo your little rant.
If the ancients made the Shadowlands without dictating people have to get punished in the Maw and letting souls choose where to go we wouldnt have this problem in the first place. So focus your anger on them they are the villains who caused this.
Don’t have to make a good plot when a bunch of Nanthanos cosplayers running around.
