Sylvanas in 8.2 (possible spoilers)

I thought we (the players) just freed him?

For real? I guess the dagger’s other personality was a lot quieter than Xal.

awoken but isn’t he still a tentacle monster rooted to azeroth?

He always was. I took his prison as more of a magical barrier that prevents him from spreading his influence to the living beings on Azeroth, not a physical one. Same as the other Old Gods.

Pretty sure the whole point of Dark Mirror was that Sylvanas is obviously into him still and he’s oblivious. Anya spelled it out for everyone.

Since according to Artifact Lore the blade is rumored to be a claw of Y’Shaarj it is obviously the voice of Y’Shaarj inside Xal’atath.

As for who the lady who just escaped is: She called the Naaru beloved brethren so she is probably a Darkened Naaru. Funny how a Darkened Naaru is now possessing a High Elf!

Unlike most Void manipulators the lady doesn’t attempt to foretell the future and just comments on the surroundings while giving background lore on everything. She is more like Illidan than any Naaru or Void Entity encountered ingame!

I don’t know that Sylvanas is capable of anything approaching selfless love, but the beginning of BtS makes it clear that she does still have some complicated feelings about him.

I do wonder if there always was something else in the dagger all this time, or if she just switched places with…whatever thing (that’s probably a lot worse).

She called Elune and “upstart goddess” and Elune is supposed to be tied to naaru as well (at least she is with X’era). I don’t think Elune herself is naaru, but she might have had a hand in leading some naaru away from the “true path” Xal talks about.

The Tears of Elune activated Light’s Heart which could only be activated by Xe’ra’s children and ancestors. Elune is stated to have created the Naaru Prime(which include Xe’ra and the Naaru Prime who revive us when we die on Argus)…

Are the Naaru Prime usurpers created by Elune to force a false path on the Naaru? The fact that they appear commonly in the Shadowlands on Argus indicates that Elune is able to send her servants to the nightmarish realms of Decay/Shadow/Void between Life and Death.
