Not going for it. Just gonna stick with my regular Switch. The price point is too high. And the pay to upgrade games we already own thing is pretty greedy.

I hope the backlash is enough for them to reverse it but this might be the new normal

I have my doubts. For years they’ve stuck to barely ever putting things on sale but sales were still good. Maybe it’ll fail like the WiiU because of the price point. Since they usually rely on family aimed sales.

But definitely feel like they are setting the standard for companies to charge $80 for digital and $90 for physical, for base games.

Which at that point, I’ll just wait for sales. And if they don’t happen, it’s just a skip for me.

All this console-ish stuff makes me glad I quit when I tossed out my Sega Genesis back in the 90’s.

while im gonna keep the consoles and games i have im gonna emulate the rest till i can afford them someday

Gamers as a whole need to reject this nonsense.

Its nothing but greed.

People have tried to justify it by saying how its inflation, when it just doesnt add up, let alone wages being the same while prices rise.

Or how back in the 90s or whatever games were expensive, while conveniently forgetting how immature the whole industry was, gaming was a niche hobby back then, the games were harder to make, and specially, harder to fit into a phone-sized cartridge and distribute, let alone make a profit.

That no longer applies, gaming is mainstream, and if you expect me to believe a freaking Mario game cost more than the likes of Elden Ring, BG3 or RDR2, then youre out of your mind.

Games hardly had a justifiable reason to go into 70 dollars, 80-90 is plain stupid.

Nintendo has completely lost me as a customer, and they better walk these prices back, cause if they not, then they better learn a harsh lesson, cause Indie will just skyrocket more than it already has.

And lets not forget emulation.

and its back down to 10%

china is prolly going up 125%

if other places wanna play nice its 10% if not its 25%

so more news to come as stuff develops

The problem isn’t the price hike, the tariffs, Trump, and everything else, when in reality, only they will give Japan a lower price because… they’re a Japanese company.

No.

The problem is their exclusivity. This year has been bad for exclusivity lately, as XBox and Sony gave up on the PC port thanks to the power of Steam, and Nintendo is still fighting for that exclusivity of its franchises. The price hike would be worse than the Sega Saturn vs. Sony Playstation prices.

That’s why when Metroid Prime 4 arrives, it’s nothing new other than being only for a fandom of the same video game as its previous Wii U and Nintendo Gamecube installments, and without any fan service like bringing back Samus in Black Bikini :bikini: from Super Metroid, as was the case with Stellar Blade or Nier Automata.

Doom The Dark Age will be available in all ports, remaining the old-school shooter for all and modern audiences, and for a success that is only a step away from the problem of exclusivity.

Let’s remember that since PS5, there are fewer console-exclusive games, with only remasters of other games released for PS3 and PS4. Nintendo is doing the same with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and although Mario Kart World and the new Donkey Kong Bananza are seen as successful, the price is causing them to stagnate and waste like other good games.

That’s why, in my opinion, I see that more than a complaint from the community, Nintendo is having a hard time raising the prices of a console that is no longer doing well as an exclusive among its video games and as a console.
