excellent news!
Yeah I have heard really good things about Corsair CS. Including them approving RMA’s outside of the warranty period. Whats amazing is this was clearly something a company wouldnt normally RMA. Considerings its my fault it was dropped off the table. Maybe since I was honest about it the rep did me a solid and RMAd it anyway? Not sure why he said what he said and started the RMA process anyway? I guess because there was no sign of physical damage he could.
It helps having in-house people as opposed to out sourcing. Back in the day the seasonic USA rep would be on the JG forums along with reps from Corsair & Antec (pre sale). Ive heard similar stories of people going on the corsair forums with their in house people sending out replacements for purchases that were out of warranty.
You often hear (especially with PSU) the brand doesn’t matter it’s about the OEM. Well the brand matters a lot just as much as the OEM and if you need to contact CS than the brand is all that matters.
*FYI, a decent amount of PSU arrive DOA to the customer because of shipping damage. I’ve seen boxes kicked across warehouse floors as if there was a soccer match going on. I’ve seen fedex people toss packages like a beach ball.
100% I called Seasonic USA and he said he was in Cali. He worked with the RMA department while I was on the phone. As an added bonus I paid a deposit+ a 20$ fee for overnight shipping for an Advanced RMA. Rep said since its so early in the day “PST Time” it will go out today and I should have it tomorrow. I just need to send mine back to them in its box and they will refund my deposit.
Asus did a similar thing a few years ago on an ROG Motherboard that failed. I got lucky and reached at US call center rep at that time. In house Reps have so much more power and provide a more streamlined experience
Update:
Bad news. My PSU took my Mobo out with it it seems. No Error codes. No lights. No nothing. Wont even turn on the PSU using the start button on the motherboard on Motherboard is shot. Tested it. It doesnt receive a current at all. I knew my old PSU had 1 or more transistors that blew. Guess it took my Mobo down with the ship
Its out of Warranty so I do have to spend money after all. Just Pulled the trigger on the ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi upgraded version of what I had. I cant find the ROG Strix X670E-E Gaming WiFi Variant in stock
that’s a serious failure on the PSU. The PSU was knocked down by your dog, got damaged. You re-connected the PSU and it blew a cap while taking out the mobo along with it?
That truly sucks, at least the GPU is intact (fingers crossed)
Yeah this was complete stupidity on my part.
I had no idea it was damaged till I plugged it back in. When it fell it landed on carpet. I checked it thoroughly and there wasnt a scuff or a mark of any kind anywhere on it. Due to that I assumed it was fine. I should have connected my PSU tester to it first to be 100% sure. But it is what it is. I plugged back the PSU back in. I booted up my computer it ran for about 2min then went dark. No lights on the motherboard no error codes of any kind no nothing. Couldnt even use bios flashback. Motherboard was totally dead. Due to that i assumed it was just the PSU. But nope. Once again stupidity on my part.
100% Fine. Since i was spending $$ on a new motherboard?
Bought the following upgrades
(AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 48GB (2x24GB) 6400MT/s CL32-39-39-102 1.35V
CORSAIR Nautilus 360 RS ARGB Liquid CPU Cooler
I must say I LOVE the Corsair Nautilus 360 RS much more than I thought I would. Looks sleek and keeps my CPU a full 9c cooler under load than my Arctic LF II 360. Than again my arctic was 5 years old. Finally a corsair cooler controlled 100% by your motherboard!
Still think it looks sleek.
