Suggestions for fixing the herb issue on mega-servers

Here’s the issue: the problem is high raiding population and dynamic layering.

Essentially, a lot of the playerbase are raid-loggers who have no reason to spend time in the game right now outside of raids. Because fo that, the majority of time the servers have 2-4 layers. The problem is, these few layers are not generating enough resources (mostly herbs, but ore as well) to feed the population of raiders who are now using consumables for harder content than kara.

The nodes are simply picked over. Whether it’s by bots or players, it doesn’t matter at this point, you’re not going to be picking herbs depite flying around for hours. So let’s look at some fair ways to increase the herb supply without crashing the markets.

I understand that there is supposed to be some sort of economy, but when a single netherbloom is 12g, and flasks are over 150g, it’s not making sense

Suggestion 1: Increase the number of mana thistle and netherbloom nodes. This was done with terrocone and terrocone prices have not skyrocketed like the others. There are enough terrocone nodes that herbalists can naturally find enough by regular herbalism. I am aware that mana thsitle is supposed to be limited to flying-only areas, so we’d need to get creative on increased spawns.

suggestion 2: keep the number of nodes, but increase spawn rate. make netherbloom and mana thistle spawn faster rather than in more places. This might change behaviour moving herbalists from mobility to camping.

Suggestion 3: Make sucessful picks give more. increase the minimum, making netherbloom and mana thistle nodes always drop 3, or, increase the maximum up to say, 1-6 chance.

suggestion 4: add herbs for badges of justice. I would happily pay badges for a bundle of 5-10 netherbloom or 3 mana thistle. I like this solution because it prevents bots from lording over nodes.

suggestion 5: add more herb spawns to dungeons. If not from badges, we could put mana thistle and netherbloom spawns in dungeons other than botanica. Put a mana thstle spawn at the end of heroic shadow labs, heroic sethekk halls, heroic blood furnace, etc. Add netherbloom nodes to regular and heroic dungeons, like heroic underbog and normal steam vaults.

Again, I’m not asking to crash the economy and make rare things cost pennies, but we need an adjustment on herbs when it comes to the issue of mega servers and dynamic layers not spawning enough to support the population.

why should I bother to read a post that you didn’t bother to write?

Not everything is chatgpt, dude. I wrote it out concisely so you could easily understand.

not everything is, but you clearly used AI to write this, and now you’re ashamed of it so you refuse to admit it.

the shame is good. you should be ashamed. you also shouldn’t do it.

Sorry for being literate??

Just read the post, I’m sure I made a typo in there you rude, rude baby.

Just because you can’t read past a third grade level doesn’t mean everything is chat gpt.

if you weren’t functionally illiterate yourself, you could spot the classic tells of AI the way that I can

Maybe you should just learn to grow an attention span.

One of the easiest fixes is to double the herbs looted.

We’re on mega realms. We need more

Nodes were designed for 4k players per layer/server.
We have 80k people and 8 layers.

they just need to give mana thistle a 1-2% chance of spawning from other herbs. making mana thistle itself spawn faster won’t fix the problem since it will still be camped 24/7.

when I played in original TBC it was basically camped all day then too. sometimes if I woke up early and got on at like 6am I could get a few, but usually I just bought them. still made a profit with elixir mastery.

what, paragraphs and punctuation?

lol

how do you think AI learned to write in the first place?

You said a problem yourslef. It is

But you described what it means not very accurate.

The problem is that, on normal realms in old 2007 TBC and on layered realms in TBC -2021, we had static amount of layers all day, but now we have dynamic amount of layers that going up when more people playing (on evenings and weekends), but 70% of time it is very low. If we imagine, that every layer is separate realm, dynamic layering always keeps population of each realm very close to realm-cap 24/7, because if layer becomes less populated, blizz shut it down.

So, the only solution is to remove dynamic layering. We should have static amount of layers all the time, not shutting them down when less people playing. It is exactly how it was in TBC-2021 and in TBC-2007. It is absolutely normal that you meet less players in openworld in less busy time. You shouldn’t always be on maxed populated layer and always meet as much players as in peaktime, like it is now. I understand blizz motivation when they did dynamic layering so you can meet more people all the time, but its just not how this game and its economy should work, and it didnt work this way in both previous TBC releases. Remove dynamic layering - problem solved.

I’d like to recommend having an additional herb have a chance to be plucked like a fel lotus does when you pick felweed. Let every herb have a chance of doing a netherbloom, mana thistle, and terocone, even if it’s small %.

One of the easiest fixes is to double the herbs looted.

I think I’d have to disagree here, I feel like this still runs the risk of bots camping all spawns, and then throttling the supply anyway, doing a “the rich only get richer” issue.

I’d rather have them add more nodes out in the world so other herbalists have a chance to come across a respawn rather than few nodes beign camped (which is just not fun gameplay for real people with lives)

What a terrible argument.

that’s not my main argument, just an additional note (hence the parenthesis). My main argument being: If you keep the same amount of nodes, the same campers will still lock them down, and only get more supply.

Adding more nodes just adds more bots.
The least effort fix, is doubling looted herbs.
Regardless, you still have bots.

But look at the terrocone changes. Blizzard added drastically more spawn points for terrocone, without necessarily increasing the spawn rate or herb drop, and the price of terrocone has stabilized. It’s not going up every week.

Increased potential spawn points means that bots and farmers can’t camp every single node. Less nodes mean they can.

No, it’s because terocone isn’t worth much when the supply is up. It’s not that there’s more so you find some that aren’t botted, it’s that’s it’s not botted since there’s other herbs to bot.

Look at classic anni, dreamfoil, silversage, plaguebloom. All botted to the max, yet no node changes.

It’s pop vs nodes sure but the core unsolvable issue is Bots and populations.

So doubling loot or doubling spawns, creates the same outcome

If it’s common, it’s useless to bot it.

Quit honestly the botting and not having materials for normal things like pots is really irratating so much so I am at the point where the bots and gold sellers and boosters can all have the game cancel sub save that money and play turtle because they are back up or something similar that do care about their population. If you want to keep your real population do something about this. frustrated players dont make good paying customers.
