Consider the scenario: https://i.imgur.com/SC2F0rB.png
After a raid boss kill, you roll Need on an item. So do 2 other eligible players. At least for Need rolls, the game already rolls the virtual dice, you see you have the top roll. (This doesn’t happen for Transmog rolls)
There is nobody else that could roll Need. But the item is not distributed.
Because one or more players that can not roll Need on that item have not clicked Transmog, Greed or Pass yet.
Especially annoying in LFR, where communication with other players can be limited, because they already left, or because you don’t want to come off as pushy (“hey, pass on that item so I receive it!”)
And it’s not even just disregard that can cause this. Maybe the Druid in my example had a disconnect or other issue. People may click off the first four displayed items and not realize more than 4 items dropped before leaving and logging out (have realized myself a couple times after a good minute that there still was a roll prompt on my screen)
But it is rather annoying to wait, I think two minutes for the roll timer to expire, because someone who cannot win the item didn’t click a button.
This is a very specific and objectively minor improvement, and I understand the effort to implement may outweigh the benefit, but how about letting the distribution happen when no one else could join the current ‘tier’ of roll options, or a higher one?
When e.g. several people have selected Transmog, and no one else who hasn’t selected anything yet could select Need (Mainspec/Offspec) or Transmog (useable/other class) then distribute the item to the highest roller, as if everyone had at least passed on the item.
Of course, the roll window should not disappear for those that haven’t “rolled” on the item yet, that can only lead to confusion and likely mis-clicks, as the 5th item that didn’t fit on screen before becomes visible. Just let those irrelevant clicks go into the void.
