Strongest Class Lorewise

Warlock and Demon Hunter probably, Shadow Priest could MAYBE compete but they would probably have to be so deep into the void they’ve sacrificed all sanity.

I’d like to say Warriors but all we do is die.

Mage. Magna Aegwynn.

I mean…I’m not saying paladins are the best…but can YOUR class survive literally anything for 8 seconds? Quick, everybody jump off the top of Blackrock Mountain! First to the bottom wins

Uh, Soulstones anyone?

The argument to be made is that the soldiers, rogues, and hunters are able to keep up with these magical beings like warlocks and mages, without the use of magic. So are they the strongest then? Technically, yes

Ah, two years later

The strongest class remains to be warrior simply because they dare, amongst god-infused magic wielders, to simply remain to be “guy with sword”. I wish Blizz didn’t insist on trying to give warriors various magic power-ups, just let them remain muggles and persevere through physical prowess alone.

Alright…

Who the smelting Pit said this could be revived from the dead?

Anyway, there is nothing any of the other classes can do that a shaman in Lore can’t. So one has to define their definition of strength. Are we talking Physical, Magical, both? Cause if you just want the most powerful, that would be Shaman. If we wanted to, we could quite literally reshape the planet. Mind you we are but a conduit of the power. The power itself is not ours, but rather borrowed.

We can call on the very earth to grant us physical strength.
We can call on the Wind to enhance our speed and reflexes.
We can call forth fire to smite our enemies and leave nothing but ash.
We can call on the Water to destroy or purify as we see fit.
We can call on any of these or even all of them at once.

Now I can hear the mages make similar claims. They use binding magic to force their will upon an element. Almost like Domination Magic. This creates a resistance from that force and backlash. Shaman agree to work with the element. Thus granting support and total control. The shaman only has to be able to survive the rush of power.

Druids create Hurricanes and can summon rain… So can’t Shamans ((In lore, not so much in-game as that would be broken.))

We have the very primal elements themselves at our becon call.

Warlocks… They steal their power through dark magic. We request it honorably ((Most of the time)) and it is granted to us willingly.

Hunters… This one is a but harder, but with our Connection to the spirits, we could in theory call upon hundreds of different animals for aid as seen with our Ghost Wolf and Raptor calls. Granting us two companions for a time.

Demon Hunters… No real comparison there. They become demons, Shaman can become and Elemental.

Can’t do none of that when you’re getting an Aimed Shot to the face tho!

Strongest class is hunter. This is a fact beyond dispute.

Considering we can see you for miles, not to mention interact with the very spirits. You’d have to get close enough for your little shot to hit. There is a reason We are called Farseers.

We can see you for miles too. We can also use stealth. And sense when others use it around us. We can sneak into perfect sniping position totally hidden, biding our time, waiting… Waiting… Then boom.

One shot, one kill.

In terms of raw power and brute strength? I say death knights and demon hunters are. The power they get comes at a huge price.

Unless of course… they say NO.

When I call upon Fire, no is not an option.

We have Far Sight powers of our own. And Shaman are fairly easy to track… when you’re downwind of them.

I mean you do not really call fire so much as twist reality’s arm until it says uncle and makes fire fire for you.

That’s an argument for the strength of my discipline. We don’t beg reality, we order it.

Mages seem to be the strongest.
Warlock is a close second but in the end the mage eventually wins out.

No, the animals you think you’ve befriended can. Even then, there is a range. As a Shaman I can quite literally spy on Silvermoon from the bottom of Stranglethorn. ((though due to Silvermoon being Phased, I think Undercity may be a more realistic option in-game as I’ve actually done it.)) You’d never know that with our power We don’t have to see you to know your there. The Elements tell us. We are also able to see into and travel through the spirit realm. You can try to hide, but our eyes see all, because we don’t only use our eyes.

Yes, Mages are essentially Dark Shaman in this regard. You use arcane to force Water Elementals to do your bidding. Drain Fire Elementals. However just ask that Dark Iron Mage who foolishly thought he could summon Ragnarok. It destroyed him and enslaved his people for Hundreds of years.

You are right however. There is always the possibility that when a Shaman calls to the Elementals, they could ignore the call. Thus leaving the Shaman powerless. This has been seen with Thrall since Warlords. Traveling to Draenor he laments that the Elementals there don’t answer to him as the ones of Azeroth did. He was weaker as a result.

You have a point, except for one small thing. We can command the wind. Your inferior variant would be helpless if the scent trail they thought they were following just keeps taking them in circles.

Even then, resistance will be encountered. You think you have the power but will never really master it like a Shaman can. Because a Shaman can Call on the full power of an Element with the only limit being either the shaman’s body or how much the particular spirit exerts.

Think of Mages and Shaman like Computers trying to connect to the internet. When the mage Connects the Network throttles how fast they can connect. However a Shaman has full unrestricted access without throttling. Perhaps paying more for this privilege. The problem a Shaman has to worry about is an overload. It doesn’t matter how fast the ISP claims to be if the Shaman’s Computer (Body) can’t keep up. Think Broadband vs original Dial-up. As a result, we have to train not only our Minds, but our Bodies, and Spirit.
