I never played any of the DOS games, so I can’t really weigh in on that.
Gotta be honest though, between BG3 and Old Republic, I’m kinda over WoW.

just got the game and my first roll was a 20! we off to a good start
and yeah the game allready feels amazing
Is there more Lore Discord Servers besides the Story Forums and R Warcraft Lore Discord that talks about Warcraft Lore, Blizzard Games, and etc?
BG3 is definitely going to eat my free time up. WoW’s deciding factor is probably gonna be how much my IRL friends want to play it. These days it’s hard to hang out with anyone without two to three weeks of scheduling and rescheduling so it’s nice to feel like I’m seeing my friends through WoW.
One thing I like about WoW is it’s good at tricking you into thinking you’ve hung out. I saw another friend of mine who’s not into RPGs who asked me when I’d last seen our mutual friend. I said just yesterday, not immediately realizing I’ve actually not personally seen him in like two months. But I’ve seen his Orc monk quite a bit.
My IRL D&D luck has carried over.
Rolling to see if a terrified child is in fact terrified? NAT 20!
Rolling to try to not get mauled by an Owlbear? 4. With modifiers.
This is why I tend to dip into Rogue or play classes that can turn invisible or otherwise get tf out’ve a botched situation.
I recently made an augmentation specced dracthyr and I must say, the support spec is a ton of fun to play and packs enough punch to enjoy solo or with a group.
Evokers are a lot more fun than I initially gave them credit for
I was just thinking the same thing. I never considered playing an Evoker, but after seeing them around, I got a bit intrigued. Now I wish I played him sooner.
As Dragonflight started, I figured I’d do my usual thing - hit Max level with my Druid with questing and such, level Rogues through BGs when I want to PvP, and level my Warlock when time permits. An Evoker wasn’t in the plan. Now that my favored Alts all reached Max level and have 4piece tier (by no means finished but enough for me) I decided to muck around with a Dracthyr.
Mine is only about 62. I’m glad it’s Darkmoon Faire for the Exp bonus, but I wish I had this revelation during the Winds of Sanctuary exp bonus.
My only real complaint is I wish they had more visage options. I’m adjusting to the elf visage, but I think if ally and horde dracthyr had access to visages of their respective factions, it would make the race/class more appealing to more people overall
I wish they had more visage options as well. But I am a fan of playing a Male Blood Elf so it works out ok.
If I had a choice of all the races I would probably make my Dracthy’s visage a Vulpera. But a “Blood Elf looking thing” is OK with me.
I’d probably make mine a fem Draenei if I could. But the male blood elf visage is pretty cool.
I guess it’s the red/blue hair that I did that does it for me
How good is this game?
Name one other game on the market where you can stumble into a furblog getting busy with an ogre.
Rerolled a Bard and with my build and the Cleric guidance dice I’ve actually not seen combat in awhile.
Turned into a story about a polite man casually talking his way out of every problem.
yeah seems like you git flooded with cutscenes and story sometimes
I’ve been in favor of that. The combats actually satisfyingly crunchy and quick paced and with resources needed to recover it actually feels like it’s ya know, costly and dangerous, to engage in mortal combat.
Also I’m liking all the characters. With the exception of the mincing elf bisexual, semi psychotic dandy who’s “secretly” undead.
Step off knife-ear, that’s my shtick
that clip is now i’m expecting my first relationship to go in that game lol
I’m torn between the emotionally distant gith warrior woman and overly emotional giant tiefling.
And my therapist says I’ve a fatal attraction to toxic women…
God WoW needs a Bard Class. Vicious Mockery is just too good of a spell.
My dream is to craft an insult so devastating my target is physically injured by it.
so the new humblebundle has all all the previous baldur’s gate games and neverwinter nights as well as pathfinder
I’ve the weirdest relationship with Larion’s games.
I actually had Divinity 2: Original Sin recommended to me in these very forums. I hadnt heard of it or the series in general and while I found the cosmic A Plot incomprehensible the world was interesting enough to keep me around. I liked how the resident engineering race was the Lizardmen and how they had this imperious, supremacist vibe to them.
And I loved the Elves which is rare for me as I typically find them to be the most overexposed and by extension least interesting race in the genre. The anti-vegan wood elf idea isn’t new but having it so they’d experience the memories of the dead through cannibalism was inspired. Eating a dead loved one sounds horrific but they made it moving when you experience one of their funerals and see it’s used as a way to connect with a lost family member one last time.
Baldur’s Gate I was vaguely familar with through brand recognition but honestly two weeks ago I couldn’t have told you if it was a video or tabletop game or book series or comic book. I just knew it was a fantasy something.
I only learned of the game on release day. And bought it on a lark purely from Larion’s reputation.
Thus far I’m in love. The AAA RPG market has been stagnant as Hell recently. I’ve never been too warm to the Eastern ones, and it seemed like Western ones had sacrificed character sheets and stat blocks on the altar of General Audience Appeal.
This really feels like the sort of game I imagined myself playing in the future when I was making do with Dragonquest 64 as a small child. And one I’d made peace with never receiving as an embittered grown man.
Seriously I can’t remember the last time I was this excited to get home and start playing a game. Much less the last time I had a genuine crush on a video game character. I already struggled to convince my SO to go with me to the Renaissance Faire later this month and I’m now going to officially push my luck by subtly trying to get her to cosplay Lae’zel.
I’m a sucker for a good love story and a foppish, bleeding heart bard winning over a merciless, monstrous professional murderer by proving he’s just as fearless as her but in his own way does it for me.
They’re also selling both Skyrim, Oblivion, and Morrowind on Steam either 16 or 17 bucks right now. I forgot which. Just wanted to put that out there.
