Well I liked Oppenheimer.
But I’m not sure the scene where post successful testing Oppenheimer slaps General Groves so hard his hat falls off before going “THAT BIG ENOUGH FOR YA, -ITCH?” and strutting out to The Notorious BIG’s ‘Big Pappa’ was 100% historically accurate.
I understand it’s an adaptation, not a documentary, but that struck me as an odd choice.

I want to watch Oppenheimer so bad, but the theatre near me is in really bad shape and it’s disgustingly dirty. Hopefully I can see it on HBO. I heard it’s pretty good and Cillian Murphy is an amazing actor in my opinion

Actually just got out of the theater about 20 minutes ago.
On the whole I agree with critical consensus. I’ll have to sit on it a bit my first impressions are this is Nolan’s masterpiece. The sound design in particular deserves an Oscar as both the use of music, sound effects and the lack of them is used excellently.
I also think Nolan was the man for the job. Guys been mastering his non-linear storytelling skills and they’re in full effect here. The movie jumping from black-and-white to color helps contextualize scenes and the makeup was fantastic at showing these characters noticeably age.
Only negative I can really say is I won’t be watching it again soon because it is mercilessly long but at the same time I’m not really sure where you’d begin to cut.

I’m trying to lose weight and it’s amusing to me how recipes have replaced pornography.
Used to wake up and would have to hastily close a few tabs showing whatever depraved path my libido led me down that evening.
But now it’s like recipes for fried food and high carb meals. Which I allow myself after a workout on days where I’m wearing my construction worker hat so I’ll actually have use of it.
Currently have all the ingredients to a steak and eggs with fresh made mashed potatoes with gravy breakfast ready to go for Sunday and I’ve looked to sure-thing dates with less primal excitement.
Ya know I’ve been patient with the talent retooling because I’m a big enough fan of the change. But while every PvP patch balancing cycle is a bit of a rollercoaster this expansion has been felt more like;
Seriously I thought the whole point of PvP only talents was to streamline these things a bit. As you could give specs buffs and abilities that’d be broken in PvE but great for PvP.
Instead though the basic rhythm of whole spec playstyles have been rewritten multiple times. It’s damn good they made DF as alt friendly as it is because it’s rather hard to commit to a favorite spec when your favorite abilities are subject to change at random.
Also how the Hell do they keep making it so Holy is objectively better at combat than Disc? Someone really has to explain to the Devs stuns are king. It’s kinda hard to top disabling a player for any length of time in PvP, as seconds really can make or break a match, ESPECIALLY if it’s not broken by damage like with Censure.
I wonder has the Forums changed atleast in terms of the rules like for example talking about someone that use to be here or is here like Erevien who is making horde posts about why the current horde sucks and etc. Also others who used to play WoW But went to other things like Grandblade who left the WoW Community but is a completely different person who doesn’t like most others within the fanbase. I am curious if there are actually rules to not talk about people on here due to nature of harassment as a rule.

I would say no, the rules have not changed. It is against the rules to call out specific people and it can be considered harassment if the party being discussed raises flags - or if the peanut gallery raise flags.
I have not been a fan of direct call out type threads. I try to frame discussions somewhat on lore based topics and our opinions of them. Straight up personal stuff can be part of the discussion, but I don’t think it should be the focus of the discussion.
I would say the application of the rule is where it can be hit or miss. If the Mods turn their eye to a topic and find it out of line, they will shut it down.
I think Erevien is a good sport about it, and doesn’t get too offended. But that doesn’t mean the rules changed.

Oh ok. Just wanna to know that. This isn’t really a attack on them or anything. Just curious after all the crazy stuff that happened about years ago when WoW wasn’t doing so well for others. Like some of them changed but not for the good and probably just wants nothing to do with the game nor the community it was based on or just still around but causing Havoc atleast in small parts.
I don’t know time hasn’t been good to alot of people these days or just lost in general after few years trying to come back to the game atleast with 2020s with Shadowlands and slowly DF recovering itself.
I normally don’t wish ill will on some others within the community that may had done some stuff in the past that may have been bad or just flat out scummy. But ether as well known individual or jerk that doesn’t want anything to do with you as a person or the community or just anyone in general that use to love the game WoW. I hope they enjoy what they do that makes them happy.
So far I kind of miss some of people around here within the Community even if some of them cause drama atleast with Fan Debates or just popular individuals in general.

this expansion finally broke me.
it’s too hard. It requires too much mental labor that I am an now unwilling to give to a video game.

I stopped really paying attention after the forbidden reach came out. I watch the cinematics because they’re great as usual, but the story is kinda boring.
I just run around and do the time rifts and fyrakk assaults on occasion

the story is really boring. I read somewhere it’s like getting 2 pages worth of a story every 6 months. it’s just not enough to be engaging, it’s gotten progressively worse since BFA. I haven’t done time rifts even though that’s what I came back for. This game is just too boring and it’s like we’ve all collectively accepted this reality for Warcraft.
World of Warcraft is a boring game.

It wouldn’t be so bad if everything wasn’t gated behind a ridiculous grind to unlock anything of interest.
I would have thought blizz learned that lesson during SL, but alas, here we are again

I’m mainly just miffed Disc’s balancing has been less a rollercoaster and more the haunted elevator drop ride.
I don’t mind Holy or Shadow but they’re far from my favorite healing or caster DPS specs. I’m here for Disc but it’s gotten the short end of the stick since BFA. It was perfect in Legion idk why they had to muck with it so much.
I’ve mainly been leveling alts though as life’s just been pretty busy and I do not have the mental mana leftover to figure all this new ish out after 9 hours of work and three glasses of chianti.

Taking a shine to Arms though. That’s pretty straightforward. Your abilities all do precisely what they sound like and even in a semi fuge state I can wrap my head around
“Hit everything that moves with this large piece of metal until it ceases to move”.

This. They doubled down on all the things we hated about Shadowlands.

I am having the same sort of fun, though perhaps not as much of it. I figure that is more a personal thing - I am older, work eats up more time, family obligations are becoming more pressing as the older people get decrepit. I frankly do not have as much time, but when I have time, I have just as much fun.
I have casually pugged Heroic Raids and casually done PvP for years. Do my own thing at my own pace.
This week I was able to sneak in a few raid bosses and BGs, and wish I had more time to do more of it.
The only reason I question continuing my WoW sub is because I don’t have as much time to enjoy it. Not because the game is bad or worse than before.

Really at this point it’s more a device that let’s me ‘hang out’ with IRL friends who are difficult to see in person for one reason or another.
I tell ya one day you’ll have 3-5 friends just show up unannounced at your home. Then ya blink and all of a sudden it takes three weeks of scheduling and rescheduling to see one person for an evening.
What if you don’t have any friends to play WoW with
Then you find a new fandom (Star Wars in my case) and you get to a point where you only peruse the forums on a Saturday morning while procrastinating on house chores.
Off to talk about the wounded feminine with my new SW discord friends because SW does mythology best.
