Tyrande killed my fave. Have some sympathy.

Tyrande deserves to lose malfurious for what she did.

Man that Maldraxxi arena really is too good for SL.

The concept of this coliseum with world bosses being deployed from around the universe is genuinely great.

She did nothing wrong by killing one of the architects of the wot

He did nothing wrong, and was a victim of a narcissist.

And he was killed by a juiced up whacko on a rampage, he was just trying to go home.

Do you speak about sylvanas??

No. Nathanos.

He’s like the only one in SL who didn’t get any justice. The writers just want me to forget and move on.

He was loyal to sylvanas, until the very end. He’s a lot of things, but innocent and victim don’t apply to him.

Liking a character is one thing, ignoring the atrocities said character was involved in is another :wolf:

Yeah but did he have a choice? I liked Roux’s characterization of him being trapped in a trauma bond. I wish that was explored more, or that we were allowed to explore that dynamic as gritty and unpretty.

Shadows Rising epilogue was hard to get through and it was never touched on again. Was he just a disposable satillite character?

More people should be angry about how he was treated narratively.

I think alot of people hated Nathanos. He was divisive. He was antagonistic. If he felt bad about anything, he didn’t let us know about it, we learned it from the narrative. Moments of reflection that he quickly snaps out of, like when Sylvanas has to tell him to burn Teldrassil a second time. Or when he thought about his cousin.

Almost half the Playerbase will hate him because he revels in fighting the Alliance.

Then we have the internal Horde divisions that generally fall along Forsaken/Blood Elf fans VS Orc/Troll/Tauren fans - the former is usually all about Nathanos while the latter tends to loathe him. And that was prior to the whole Loyalist/Traitorfang divide.

Among the polarized and partisan fanbase, he made alot of enemies. Very few people were ingratiated by his antics. Those who hated him are happy to see him be punished - and I think they also revel in Sylvanas fans losing something they liked.

A big theme among many Anti Sylvanas Posters for years has been punishing Players who enjoy her story. These people seem to enjoy that hardcore Sylvanas fans lost one of their favorite Characters, more than they care about some lore based justice.

For all the differences between Golden and Roux, they did write something consistent in their portrayal of Nathanos. In both Shadows Rising and the Sylvanas book, Nathanos does not care about their mission - he just wants to be with Sylvanas and fight for her, regardless of the cause. He even suggests running away and leaving it all behind - but she says that is silly.

Both authors worked well to express that in a consistent way over the course of the two novels. I got the same feeling you did - but we are Nathanos and Sylvanas fans. A lot of folks disliked him, and they don’t care about how he feels - they just wanted to see Sylvanas fans lose stuff, because they blame Sylvanas fans for the narrative Blizzard decided to make.

I hope at some point when she eventually recovers his soul we get some kind of closure for him. He was abandoned by the person he loved most.

I wonder what they will do with him. They can still do a few touching moments - well, touching for their fans. Again, I understand there are hard feelings among the fanbase, and some sections of the fanbase think even the Maw is too good for this couple, much less any future joyous moments.

For example :

If over the course of say, 6 years and a few expacs, we get some small out of the way quests or short stories to fill us in on what Sylvanas is up to in the Maw, while the in game expansions are about other stuff. Maybe we learn that as she is ranging through the Maw, in the back of her mind, she is hoping she finds clues about Nathanos. Whether she ever finds him or not, it would be a personal motivation for her in the Maw, more so than just penance.

If Blizzard really wanted to twist the emotional screws, they could make a short story with a sad ending. Where Sylvanas stumbles upon one of Zovaal’s abandoned Forges in the Maw, and finds Nathanos’s soul warped and reduced to almost nothing - just like Arthas’s soul. And all she can do is talk at it as it fades away. Losing Nathanos for good in a similar way as she closed the Arthas chapter would echo the cruel ironies she has always endured - and leave her siiiiingle! Uther isn’t that bad…

It’s the waiting 6+ years for a D plot resolution that has my pants in a twist.

Especially when that’s the only content I’m intetested in and emotionally invested in.

I wonder how much this will be enforced.

It’ll be enforced as well as it is now. Meaning they’ll likely pick and choose when it’s convenient

This is more of a PR thing, they can already ban you for any reason they want right now, so it will be selectively enforced as are all their rules.

Ugh… so much less desirable.

after the Shadows Rising Epilogue where Sylvanas treats Nathanos as disposable I was like “Girl, if you don’t want him. Let me have him. Thanks. I’ll take care of him.”
