Someone brought up the “small indie company” meme again. It got me thinking, and I sat here on my lunch and calculated how much money I’ve sunk into WoW.

I do not recommend. I feel some type of dumb, now.

I played every year of this game I paid for with friends, I don’t regret a moment.

I wouldn’t quite say regret. But for sure, sticker shock. Just on this account (my second), I’ve sunk about $2,300 into a game. And that’s just counting my sub, and expansions. Not mounts, pets, name changes, character transfers, or the time I RAFed myself to get the Emerald Hippogryph.

Divide that by 15 years though. It’s a much more reasonable number and, frankly, good value.

A result of said Game being a Subscription-based Game naturally. Having one for as long as you have and you spend $2,300 on it naturally.

A Non-Subscription Game of the $3,000(the price of a PC) price of course lends to questions on what sort of game would cost so much. Either it’s a rare game from an older era(they get to the One Hundred Thousands) or there is some reason the Devs are willing to put it up for that much.

Typing /played is a fast track to depression and I’d never recommend it.

Oh god I know. This Druid is ancient and I hate typing that command.

Well, about 10, give or take. I was only 14 when WoW came out. Plus a couple years on a shared account with an ex that I didn’t count because we took turns paying for it.

But, I do also pay slightly more for my sub than some people. My state adds sales tax to it as an “online purchase”.

I’m watching Moneyball for the first time. Why is Bobby Kotick playing as the owner of a baseball team in this movie?

Friends with the director. Iirc, it was part of a personal deal to get a Call of Duty movie made, or something.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

A Call of Duty Endowment Short Film specifically. Call of Duty Endowment is a Charity for Veterans and Bobby Kotick had the Director make a Short Film for it.

Bobby Kotick has a focus on Veterans of War it seems…

That probably explains why I don’t remember there being a Call of Duty movie. Though I don’t really keep up with Call of Duty, so I figured it just slipped under my radar.

Maybe it’s because I don’t have a Gilnean and don’t see the architecture enough but I really love their inn. It’s so much cozier than all the others.

Valarjar Stormwing acquired. Only the paragon mounts from Nightfallen, Farondis, and The Army of the Light (all of them) to go. And, finally got the note to drop for the fox mount.

And we’re how many years past Legion?

I originally was sad they didn’t add a purple Hippogryph variant to the Warden’s emissary caches. But after how long it took me to get the Hippogryph from the Court of Farondis, I am now very glad they didn’t. I can live without Sira’s toy.

I’m still plugging away at Valarjar and Nightfallen emissaries whenever they appear and I’ve still never gotten either mount ever since they were first introduced. It’s highly frustrating.

Edit: The kicker is that they’re the only two I even wanted to begin with.

I got the Dreamweaver one first, which was the main one I wanted, and actively farmed. Highmountain one happened by accident. But I’m at the point in mount collecting achievements where every mount counts, so I need them all, now.

I never got the Wild Dreamrunner, but, despite the name, the unicorns never felt really connected to Druids or the Dream or anything. They were just kind of randomly around, and mostly in Azsuna at that. So I never bothered with that one.
