Death Coil was taken away from Warlocks and returned as Mortal Coil. Death Coil was given to DKs as a different ability altogether…Same as Metamorphosis. It did not exist in the Warlock and DH toolkit at the same time.
It’s not a new damage type. It’s nature damage. They are just calling it Stormstrike damage. Which is ridiculous, because Stormstrike does physical damage.
That’s exactly the point. So you had melee abilities that were considered magic damage. The stun off Bash was also magic damage. Things that were special abilities outside auto attacking were categorized as magic damage to keep them separate, or Universal to ensure they also damaged structures and magic immune enemies.
But Warlocks still had it when Death Knights had it. Its an undeniable fact and Blizzard was ok with it because they did different things. They specifically said this.
Meta isnt Death Coil.
It is a new damage type.
And also physical damage.
No its a new type of damage.
And ability and a damage type are not the same thing.
No its not, you were trying to say that it wasnt nature damage… but nature damage didnt exist in Warcraft, magic damage did. Blizzard wasnt frost damage, but it was magic damage.
You are on the losing end of this. You are just flat out wrong and trying to start with a conclusion and find things to support it instead of the other way around. Oh and I played Muradin in HotS… what about it? Looks pretty damn lightning based to me.
I did research on this because I legit did not know of any abilities existing at same time other than Nature’s Swiftness Druid/Shaman which did same thing. Your timeline is off, but your argument is correct.
MoP renamed it to Mortal Coil, but they both had death coil from WotLK and Cata.
I brought up Meta because that is another ability that has been shared between classes, just not at the same time…again one of the only examples I could think of outside NS.
And Shockwave and War Stomp in wow are physical damage, yet classified as magic damage in WC3. There weren’t magic types because they didn’t matter. If it was a special ability, it was considered magic, regardless what the actual damage type would be. The reason being to keep it on a separate stat from auto attack damage.
Nothing about him is remotely close to the mountain thane talents showcased in the hero talents. Cause he’s really smacking people with lightning strikes and thunder blasts…except not. You sure you weren’t playing Thrall? ;]
You’re right…but its kind of ridiculous something with the same name is doing completely different things. Even their talents clone shaman, as call of thunder also exists as an elemental talent.
So? What does that have to do with a Storm Bolt and Thunder Clap. Storm Bolt is a magical hammer surrounded by lightning, and thunder clap isnt just a loud noise, it was accompanied and still is accompanied with lightning. There is a glyph as well that gives it some lightning to it.
Wait, first you said there isnt anything shaman about him, now you are changing it to be there isnt anything about him that is close to the mountain thane hero talents. A focus on Thunder Clap? Storm Bolt hitting multiple targets?
Thrall has even less lightning about him lol. All he has is Chain Lightning.
No its not. And “stormstrike damage” is different than “Stormstrike”. One is an ability and the other is a damage type that mixes magic with physical. Just like Holystrike damage is holy mixed with physical.
So? They do different things. Mountain Thanes dealt with lightning. So what? As other people say it doesnt take away from shamans. Its like fire mages kicking and screaming because Desto locks also use fire damage… soooooo.
It’s sad that this look like a more fun enhancement shaman then elementalist shaman meta , I always like the physical storm builds for enhance. Otherwise I’d just rather play elemental. But hey that’s me.
Idk I feel like Enh has kinda been being pigeonholed into the whole “storm” thing since Legion, I never felt like it was that much of an emphasis prior to this expansion and the gameplay changes it brought.
Personally I’m more interested in being a Totemic Master of the Elements, not a Totemless Master of Storms.
No, its not. Quit being hyperbolic and whiny because 1 other class has lightning in it.
Enhance has Tempest Strikes which gives Stormstrike, Ice Strike and Lava Lash a 100% chance to discharge electricity at your target. You already have the thing that you want for Enhance, and you generate Maelstrom stacks that can be used on lightning bolt.
Duh, thats what these hero talents are for, 2 specs.
So what? Resto should be healing.
Have you looked at the hero talents at all?
So you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about and instead just whining and complaining over nothing. Totemic is probably going to do something with totems, its in the title. I dont know why you are focusing on Totemic and not the one that is shared between Enhance and Elemental.
Assuming Totemic is Resto/Enhance, Stormbringer is Enhance/Ele and Farseer is Ele/Resto. (Which may be completely wrong Farseer may be for Enhance).
They all definitely need skill in common, or grant a skill they’ll both share, looking at what they’ve announced so far either can happen though I’d argue giving another skill seems like a wrong choice (look at Lightsmith with Holy Armaments which is already getting a lot of negativity with another maintenance ability ontop of already a bloated kit).
Totemic is either going to double on totems we already have, perhaps giving buffs on totem placements or an entirely new Totem to add to the rotation giving a different effect depending on spec. (Purely speculation on the name and from what other Hero Talents have given I.E Lightsmith with a new ability ).
Stormbringer might be our saving grace, for Enhance I’m guessing effecting Stormstrike or Lightning bolt, Lightning Bolt might be a strong assumption as it’s both shared between Enhance and Ele, this might be the Hero Talents that boost Stormstrike??.
Farseer is a tough one, what do Resto/Ele share other then same things across all specs to make this unique. A more empowered Ascendant?.
I’m hoping we get some news soon, because I really need information, even if not the complete tree, but information on what the Hero Specs/Talents would be more focused on before I start arguing.
Mountain Thane seems to be stepping on our toes right now but that’s simply because we have zero information on our Hero Specs and Trees. The only confident one would be Stormbringer being Enhance/Ele.
