Stormbringer needs buffs in PvE and PvP

Stormbringer has fallen behind totemic by a decent amount in all forms of PvE content, and in PvP after the latest round of tuning that nerfed Ascendance+Thorims and buffed damage by 5% Stormbringer is performing worse there too.

It would be nice to see some buffs for Stormbringer. Just some ideas for that:

  • The node that increases nature damage by 2% in the Stormbringer tree could get buffed up more. Or it could also increase physical damage on top of nature damage

  • Stormstrike could be added to Voltaic Surge so it gets buffed via Stormbringer tree similar to how Lash gets buffed via Totemic tree

  • Descending Skies changed to be Doom Winds instead of Ascendance. This gives both Ascendance and non Ascendance builds benefit from this talent, whereas right now this talent only works if you take Ascendance. There are builds for Stormbringer that don’t take Ascendance and it feels really bad/weird to just have this talent essentially be missing from the tree.

Hoping to see some tuning for it early on now that we’ve seen the roadmap for tuning.

Love sb gameplay but not a fan of totemic at all. Really hoping they make sb as competitive because it feels awesome besides the 2 min big cd. Slight increase of dre proc rate would have stormbringer feeling like a downright monster if we’re waiting on 2min ascendance in between.

Yeah Totemic feels kinda weird now. It isn’t bad, but Elemental Tempo makes it a bit odd. However in PvP, Totemic feels messy and can be shutdown easily in multiple ways (kiting or ccing), we have 10 seconds to get our burst out via Doom Winds+Prim storm+Surging Totem, most of your burst comes from the first 3-4 globals here but can still be easily disrupted and kited.

I think Stormbringer is really fun in PVP and PvE, I’d love it to be a little bit more competitive with Totemic. Its close, but the recent Ascendance nerfs in PvP put Stormbringer behind Totemic (on the beta) and in PvE Totemic has been ahead of Stormbringer in all forms of PvE content for the entirety of beta.

I would like to see a change to Descending Skies, this talent being useless if you dont play with Ascendance is bad design imo. Stormbringer has the option of playing Doom Winds+Prim storm for shorter burst windows by not taking Ascendance, but that makes 1 major talent in Stormbringers tree completely dead.

I’d also like to see buffs that benefit Stormbringer. Buffs to Stormstrike and Stormbringer specific talents like Natural Gift (2% nature damage, could be increased, maybe have it increase physical damage as well), Stormwell (more Windfury damage), and possibly Lightning Rod would be great.

Please buff Stormbringer! I really have tried to like totemic but it’s just not as cool and managing the totem is a pain sometimes due to movement!

Totemic in PvP is rough most of the time. Less survivability than Stormbringer, less mobility and less ranged damage. Your go is really strong but it can be shut down easily via kiting or cc. I dont dislike it, but I would prefer to have Stormbringer be just as strong if possible. The nerfs to Ascendance really hurt Stormbringer.

Ideally, it would be great to see the following for Stormbringer/Enhance overall:

  • Stormstrike buffed in Stormbringers talent tree so it gains more value through Stormbringer similar to how Lash gains more value through Totemic. Maybe it can be added to Voltaic Surge or through a reworked Descending Skies.

  • Descending Skies reworked. This talent guarantees 1 Tempest every 2 minutes, but becomes entirely useless if you try to play a Stormbringer build without Ascendance (which is possible).

  • Natural Gift in Stormbringers tree buffed. This increases Nature damage by 2%, but Totemic in the same node spot gets a 2% Mastery increase which is just flat out better. Natural Gift should give a higher nature damage increase to balance that out or maybe it can increase physical damage as well.

New Honor talents that are Enhance specific as Enhance does not have any spec specific honor talents right now:

  • Crashing Thunder: “Crash Lightning deals x% increased damage to its initial targets hit and its weapon enhancement effect now also reduces healing received by x%”

  • Improved Healing Surge: “Healing Surge casts on yourself now reduce physical damage taken by x%”
