Blizzard, I play shaman. We use 1h and shields. I know you hate INT maces now, though I don’t know why. They just don’t exist anymore. That’s fine. I can use a dagger.
But, you see, you keep giving me staves. My first weapon from Prey was a staff, so I switched my loot spec to elemental for the hard mode so you wouldn’t give me another one. But you did give me another one.
Now I am vendoring my first epic of Midnight (which is also my first veteran track item). I am vendoring it because I am a shaman. I do not use a staff. I have a specific talent (Thunderstrike Ward) that utilizes my shield.
The last time I remember shamans using staves was way back in TBC. I did not, and I never will. I will delete this 19-year-old toon and uninstall this game before I ever equip a staff.
In conclusion, please stop giving me these useless things. I will continue to vendor them.

So due to the new crest economy we have, it’s actually better it use a two hander than a one hander and shield. Now I do agree it feels weird using a two hander or staff, but take it as a due to short sight as usual. They have created a scenario where dual welding classes are being punished even harder now, and means we’re better off not dual welding.
That’s fine, but I don’t care about what it costs me. I’m telling you that I’m currently ilvl 218, and I vendored a 237 veteran track staff. I will not use one on principle.

Then that’s your own prerogative then, you’d be better off then just spark crafting if that’s how strongly you feel. As the game will keep giving you staffs because it’s what it thinks you need.
Staff is very shaman.
so much so it seems a lot of us want 2h ench back as well.
Wanting to get your preferred weapon type is fair though, but let’s not act like staff is t very shaman.
I’m biased though, staffs are my favorite weapon type. 
Staves shouldn’t drop for shaman when you can’t use them. You literally can’t use talents for elemental or totemic resto shaman when using a staff, and you also are losing out on passive damage reduction from the shield armor as well which matters in solo content and sometimes for aoe.

Agreed. Just look at the old artifact weapons - both resto and ele had 1H and OH(shield). And it was already mentioned there is a talent for buffing your shield specifically.
Staves are cool too though, but there are plenty of other classes/specs that can use them and it fits them better.
The shield just works better for a shaman in my opinion.

Maybe they should remove the shield requirements from thunderstike ward and change it to neck or back.

I like the look of staves better actually, and I think it looks goofy casting with a shield on your back. However, until you can use all available talents with a staff and staves also give you equivalent armor / block as a shield, they shouldn’t drop. It’s insane.
