“You’re just a troll” is a good way to deflect an argument when you have nothing to come back with, especially on these forums.

I happen to agree with him. There’s a time for DPS to pull and a time for them to let the tanks handle it.

When it is planned for and done correctly the dps isn’t even going to get hit.
Should the dps pull for your unorganized group of randos that have said nothing to one-another other than asking for a summon? No. Probably not.
Should they for certain pulls in a coordinated group that is in coms–i.e. voice chat? Yes. Absolutely. It is very helpful on occasion.
CONTEXT people. It is important.

In a pug group, without communication, no there is not a time for DPS pull. You are not the tank, and even blizz says in its player guide, DPS, let the tank initiate combat. Your job is to make things die fast. Period. If your group is fine with it, cool, but that is not your role and that is an exception not the rule.
I agree with you here. But last xpac we were in a situation were people had to run the daily heroics for things, content which they vastly outgeared, and they were just there to get things done. In BFA that hasn’t been the case.

Tank pulls the mobs.
As a DPS first and work in progress tank, the tank pulls, not the DPS.
If the TANK specifies otherwise, such as the old General Drakkisath pulls in UBRS from old where the Rogue needed to kite the general so the two bodyguards could be burned down, that’s different.
Tank pulls.
Period.

A good dps who knows how to support the tank through pulls is a boon, one that tries to mimic that behavior without knowing the intricacies is a bust.

You said “What if you don’t need to healer or the tank” - if you didn’t need them then you wouldn’t care about them complaining or kicking you from the group because you could just as well solo the content. You wouldn’t have any reason to be in this post, on this forum, debating the issue of being a DPS that gets kicked from groups because they pull early because (AGAIN) you stated you don’t need them anyhow.

Not needing them does not mean q’ing in does not make it faster.
You’re still under the assumption that it’s only the person trying to go faster that is wanting to go faster.
Dealing in absolutes is destined to be wrong.

If a dps pulls while I am tanking, I always let them die before picking aggro at the healer. Let them learn through repair costs.
