Not do be a jerk here but - everyone commenting saying “I dont believe this” - can you do some research first? But no let me google this for you all…
You turn your gold into blizzard cash. Then you buy a token and sell that in game on your new server. You suffer a % loss but its negligible because at this point you now have access to server prices that might be 10% of a high pop cost. For example the BMAH on my low pop sells boxes for 40k. They are 300k+ at times on high pop. Notice the other comments saying “This actually happens?”
Blizzard listens to the .05% all the time lol thats why this game has turned into the trash it is.
You can only buy a token (the kind you turn into game gold on the new server) for dollars. Real money. You can’t do it for BNET balance. You can’t do it for game gold on the old server.
So you aren’t transferring anything. You are purchasing gold for real dollars. No thanks.

Don’t try and use logic my graven raven, we’ve moved beyond that point.

Blizzard cash is not real money. You cannot walk away with it. Just because they put a $ in front of it changes nothing. You could not be more wrong - I’ve literally done this too because it currently is possible. I have transferred a million gold to a low pop realm. Like WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE SO DUMB
You take gold. You turn it into whatever blizzard is calling their balance lets just call it GEMS because dollars is confusing people. You take those GEMS and buy gold again for like a 10% loss. No real money involved.
Funds added to Blizzard Balance are not refundable (except as otherwise provided by law), and cannot be converted into cash. Blizzard Balance can only be used to buy designated Blizzard Entertainment products and services.
Where do I go in-game to purchase a token (the kind that I can convert into gamegold) with Bnet balance (“blizzard cash”)? I am looking for it. I cannot find it. I would be happy to believe you, if you tell me how to do it.
I know how to buy the OTHER kind of token with gamegold: that kind of token can only be converted into sub months or bnet balance.
Blizzard claims you can only buy this kind of token (for gamegold) with real money (US dollars): https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/31218
What you are missing here is that on low pop servers high priced items do not sell as quickly, as such the price gets dropped to accelerate the sale as sellers duke it out.
This leaves lower pop servers with low(er) priced premium items.
Thats how you do it - you buy a token and convert that into bnet balance then use that balance to buy a token on the other server. That’s it. You can transfer a million gold from a high pop to a low pop like that at a cost of 100k maybe. But with prices that are between 10 and 20% of the high pop - you’d be INSANE to think its not worth it.
And it completely circumvents the WoW character gold limit transfers. Like why block a character to only 200k gold when you can just go around that?
Where? Where can I do that? How can I do that? I don’t believe it is possible, if you don’t know where it is done.
I’ve been using WoW tokens for years. I have a $200 bnet balance, created by trading gamegold for bnet balance. I know of no way to purchase game gold (via tokens) using bnet balance. I do not believe Blizzard allows this.

Token prices are not at all linked to the server you are on. They’re the same on every single server. They all come from one pot.
As for transferring gold by this means, you do understand that you can take 1 million gold with you via a character transfer. It used to be 250k, but they changed that a while back.
While people could do what you’re suggesting, the only benefit is finding items cheaper on the AH of a different server. You’re muddying up the whole thing with the token purchasing and selling.
Edit:
Yes, tokens can be purchased using your battle.net
balance. You have to have enough funds in your balance to cover the whole purchase or it won’t show up as an option.
You buy the token that converts to battle net balance with gold and then open the store and buy the token that converts to gold with battle net balance, it’s not difficult.

I have over $200 in my battle.net balance. WHERE does this option show up? In the “shop” button from the login screen? It does not show up for me.
Not awhile back it only applies to 110+ transfers. But people aren’t interested in playing on the other server with their main which is the point of the transfer. They are interested in farming the AH/BMAH. So yes you can now transfer 1 mil with a character but you can bypass that and pay a 10% “fee” to just move the gold and farm the AH/BMAH with a level 1 or even a 110 boost while your main remains on the other server. It’s much cheaper this way.
You need to be logged in to a character to buy one. It won’t show up otherwise.
You have to be on the character that you’re going to purchase the token on in-game. Open the in-game shop up and it should be an option there for you.
Found it! Thank you, everyone.
I’m surprised, but just as OP says, transferring gold is very easy. And I agree that it can cause problems.

Thank you! You can completely undermine the existing ecosystem of a low pop realm with this.
Yeah, this. In a lot of cases you could just sale things at higher prices since you have little to no competition.
This. My guild is in the process of transferring to a high population realm for pve and social reasons and I went to scout the regular AH at the new realm. On the regular AH there, people are selling stacks of 200 everything that’s pretty hard to find in stacks of 10 on our current realm, and most of the xmog stuff is selling for a fraction of the price compared to our current realm. After looking around the high pop realm, I decided to dump all my saleable stuff on my bank alt in our current realm and just go to the new realm with my gear and soulbound stuff. I’m actually going one further and looking to switch from mining/herbalism to say engineering/alchemy since the new realm is awash in mats for cheap.
Server’s economy isn’t simply who has more people, it’s about whether it has more suppliers than demanders or more demanders than suppliers, and even that can get product-specific. And profitable niches disappear as fast as anyone else discovers your niche.
My understanding about BMAH is that a lot of the stuff is worth more than gold-cap, and you might be up against a firstcomefirstserve race of goldcap people. Like those penny auction websites…
No - just like the dude you are responding to you arent considering demand. You can only do what you are saying if theres high demand and low supply. But on low pop its the opposite - theres high supply and low demand. You cannot inflate prices in that environment.
