My sub runs out in a month. I am not coming back until Ion is fired and a REAL gamer team is hired to save this game. I am so sick and tired of a lawyer deciding what’s fun for me.
“Don’t you guys have phones?”
I’m down to a month as well. And frankly, the game just isn’t fun anymore. It’s a chore to log in. I’ve been in this spot before but this may be the final straw needed to cure me of the addiction.
My guildmates being in absentia due to real life issues has probably of course helped, but even so, there just isn’t enough in BfA to keep my going. A part of me doesn’t like to give up and I think that’s why I’ve been trying to stick it out until 8.2
Sadly, with stupid decisions like this and stupid Blues like Bornakk who 100% seem to support stupid decisions, that may not happen.
I’m just growing sick and fed up of stupid being passed off as intelligent.
Why not make mages great again by allowing them more portals?
“need portal to XYZ”
Crickets
“Need portal to xyz”
Crickets
checks / who to see there are no mages online
Discontent continues to stir on the forums, and it surpasses that of the normal caliber. I’ve never seen so much of the same frustration poured out on the forums over and over again.
Yet, Blizzard continues to ignore player feedback and go the opposite direction.
I’m not sure what happened since MoP, but the number of MAU’s are going to continue to drop until the players start feeling heard.
Why don’t you want people to enjoy playing this game? Why do you insist on making stupid change after stupid change chasing all the player away?
Know what this reminds me of?
“You can get by fine without flying”
“You have flight whistles and flight paths that should be enough for you”
“Flight makes the world smaller”
All of which are summarised as:
"You are not playing the game the way we want you to"
You forgot the other issue.
“need portal to XYZ”
“Sure, that’ll cost you 350k gold.”
I think the overuse of the expression that it makes the “world bigger” is pretty bad with blizzard people. The world isn’t bigger if you have to walk it, you just waste more time to get to content because the world is empty, there’s no random events or interesting treasures on your way and you have to be specific professions to get herbs or ores.
So let’s be realist, there’s a limit of time you want to waste traveling. If you waste more time traveling than doing the content then it’s bad which is why I hate the wqs in BFA, there’s too much of them and they’re really easy to do with poor reward as standalone. The only good wqs for me so far are the incursions ones because they spawn next to each other.
“Gold cant be transferred crossrealm”
“Then bye”
So let’s be realist, there’s a limit of time you want to waste traveling.
THIS x 100000
Making Azeroth feel alive again.
- You enjoy phasing players’ environments to tell a story
- BFA’s table missions are supposedly the aftermath of Sargeras’ sword being thrust into the planet, and the bleeding of azerite across the planet everywhere except Zandalar & Kul Tiras
- You could implement rich storytelling (if you still have writers capable – jury is apparently out on this) with active quests/adventures
- Obviously too late in BFA to do this, but for the future, instead of giving players another mission table with tedious, boring missions that you can do from a mobile device sitting in the bathroom, you could create engaging content that progresses the ongoing storyline
- Adding engaging story-driven content that isn’t the same thing cycled over and over every few days is good for players
- Removing convenience features that have existed for a decade, for the sake of pushing your reinvention of the wheel is not good for players
I thought about a lot of ways to point out why this is a detrimental change, but I don’t think any feedback will be relevant. I honestly believe this change is being made in spite of what players want on purpose. I cannot see a change like this being made by anyone who has any semblance of an idea of what the player base wants and think its a good thing.
Even with portals you tend to have to do quite a bit of moving around to get anywhere. I still have to fly my alts around to pick up flight points in long deprecated zones if I want to farm mounts from old raids and such.
That said, I think its pretty clear where I stand on this issue, though my opinion is likely to be largely irrelevant.
Surprised I havent run out of Likes today. People in this thread understand that such changes are not intelligent but are instead stupid.
It doesn’t make it feel bigger. It just means I have to waste more time on flight paths, waste more time on travel. The world doesn’t feel bigger because I’m zoning out while traveling.
Breath of the Wild feels massive, and yet has over 120 teleport locations you can access anywhere.
This feels like your trying to inflate your “time-played” metric to make your investors happy.
No, its idiotic.
“Making azeroth feel alive” would come from there being things to do in old zones.
All this does is force us to take more flight paths.
There is literally no reason to remove these portals.
And good luck if we want to do the artifact quests in legion on alts we are leveling too.
I have.
Seriously…I dont even believe we should need to have this conversation.
Wait till this goes live.
I get what Blizz is wanting, making the world bigger etc.
But like, just, ugh. I wouldn’t even bother visiting Blackrock Mountain if it wasn’t for the Kara portal. Or going to anywhere in Northrend. Or Caverns of Time. Or Shattrath.
I know that there are other portals that are just a bit further (Blasted Lands, Silithus, etc) but I just don’t want to use them. Its an extra 10mins of auto-flying over the same stuff I’ve been auto-flying over for 9 years.
I didn’t realise they would be taking out the centre Dal ports with this, I thought it would just be putting the 8ish Cleft of Shadow portals together. At the very least, consider keeping the Old Dal, Shatt, Wyrmrest, CoT and Kara portals as I got a lot of use out of them.
Sadly haven’t we said that about other stupid bone headed moves that Blizzard has engaged in?
I mean, Crepe even spoke out AGAINST the change (as an example) of unifying all the Druid travel forms into a single button. I think he phrased it best “this was a solution looking for a problem.”
I think this is another example of that. It’s a solution looking for a problem.
Also, the times in the past where towns with lots of portals had activity were always QUEST HUBS. So if they believe it’ll get people into Stormwind/Orgrimar again, they’re smoking some whacky backy. It wasn’t the portals that kept people in Old Dalaran/New Dalaran/Shrine, it was the quests and the various amenities.
Unless Stormwind & Orgrimar suddenly start becoming important with quests taking us there regularly, having a one stop portal shop in those locations won’t improve the number of people visiting town.
Verdre
The last three expacs have been a steady litany of what has been taken out of the game. The list of things ADDED is a hell of a lot smaller.
Portals were not a problem until Blizzard made them one.
