This guy gets it.
Your old world would get seen a lot more if it had anything remotely compelling to do within it.

When I read your response, the image of Luke and R2D2 in an X-wing popped into my head, with Luke telling R2D2 to go ahead and shut down because the journey to Dagobah is going to be a long one now that the Emperor has managed to eliminate the technology of hyperdrive. And I wondered if Luke felt the universe was bigger, and more alive?

Mate, first off I wanna apologize to you for the amount of flak you’ve probably gotten and commend the amount of civility and restraint you’ve showed in these posts.
That said, this is a terrible idea and no amount of sugar-coating is going to make this idea palatable. Inconveniencing players by stripping portals from past expansions. I get that the devs are trying to funnel everyone through the capital cities for basic transport to make the game feel bigger, but there has to be a better way to do this then by inconveniencing every non-mage class who wants or needs to get somewhere that is out of the way. For example, The vale portal put people right into the heart of the Mist continent. Players could reach most parts of the expansion from a point that is fairly convinent, including Siege, Sha of Anger, The Lorewalkers etc etc. The Dalaran Crater portal gave people a very quick path to the Christmas daily quest, The Karazhan portal is right next to Karazhan and is useful for anyone who doesn’t have access to the item that ports you there for free, Caverns of Time has a half dozen dungeons and raids in it.
It would make sense if the traveling in this game was meaningful or if the journey itself was lucrative in its own way, but right now, it just makes it look like you want to make people walk an extra 10 minutes just to travel someplace.
Resubbed being optimistic about blizz… I guess I was wrong. Dead wrong.
That’s what their after right there. So they can show their investors " Look, people are spending more time in the game. "
No, the dishonest one is you. You admitted it will take more time, but then you turn around and say its no big deal. And then later you try and say that it won’t take more time. You’ve been all over the board on the topic with zero consistency. We’ve been consistent since this whole ordeal launched.
Numerous people have run tests and shown that when you include loading screens and all that the time goes up substantially to reach various spots.
I have toons that I farmed on that I never bothered getting rep. Because I had methods to get to the locations that were efficient.
Now Blizzard is telling us to waste our time to grind the rep just so we can waste less time. Time they they themselves MADE us waste. Their change is WASTING our time. It doesn’t matter if its only a couple of minutes, that adds up quickly if you’re a genuine collector who will make the run several times in the day.
Gamers since the beginning have always had a hatred toward having their time wasted. You refuse to understand that concept.
And no, don’t bring up Ashes of Alar, that’s not wasting our time. We’re fighting rng. We know we may not win. We accept that.
But being told that we now have to spend more time travelling, for no other reason than they’re being petty little dictatorial tyrants? Yes, we are upset and we are justified in being upset.
And you’re trying to derail the topic by talking about riding skills and mounts. That’s a fact, you are trying to derail the topic because you know that all you have is one flimsy excuse from Blizzard. You don’t have anything else except for trying to change the topic, mock or insult people.
Ok, I’ll put this bluntly. Who here would appreciate their Raids being extended by 2-3 minutes due to pointless and annoying mechanics that don’t improve the quality of the raid or even increase the difficulty. It’s just made longer for no valid reason besides a flimsy excuse.
Just like Raiders would be upset about their raid being padded out, Collectors are equally upset about their Collecting being padded out.
"All Mythic encounters during the world first race now have a 10 minute reset timer between pulls to help preserve the integrity and level the playing field of the world first race.
Trash will respawn after 1 hour."
Yeah…I could see that going over really well, lmao. ![]()

Dont really care about portals , idk why there is such a hype
Exactly. Maybe that’s a bit blown out of proportion, but the mindset is the same.
Also, time spent on an activity affects your enjoyment of it.
I’ll use Anthem as an example. They’ve had issues with the loot in the game. Twice now they released a patch that was “bugged” and gave players rewards they enjoyed. Twice. And both times they went “our bad, that’s not how it was supposed to be!” and fixed it.
One guy had this to say “I got a bunch of loot, and while none of it was useful to me due to bad stats on the gear, I still had fun!”
And that was during one of the “fun” and “bugged” patches.
I disagree. I feel it’s a good change in that it makes the world a little more alive. Instead of thanking Blizzard for the character sale that is happening, I see countless people whining about it, the portal room changes; and I’ve even seen a few posts on other sites calling Blizzard a “sell-out”.
Since Blizzard according to this completely irrefutable logic spouted by our lovable digital Confucius’ is “selling out”, I felt for the sake of cultural enrichment I would furnish some appropriate music for the mobs of psychology to listen to while the patch download.
(Besides, any excuse to link a Tom Lehrer song is always a good reason.)
Why on earth would I thank Blizzard for doing a 100% smart business move? It’s called “sweetening the pot,” and it works, proven.
Get outta here with that, good song or not. lol. ![]()
Fine. I’ll leave you with the Forsaken National Anthem instead.
Wrong one, cupcake.
That’s a little closer to the right one.
And removing the portals is a bad idea, a seriously bad one.
Semper Fi!
Shocker. No changes to a craptastic plan. My sub is done in 11 days. 2/10 would not recommend BfA.
I disagree. I feel it’s a good change in that it makes the world a little more alive.
It doesnt and it wont.
and numerous people have shown that that their navigation skills are less than optimal.
but oh my gosh… the travel involved!
…so much wasted time flying all the way out there! ![]()
no, i haven;t tried to derail the thread, if i’ve raised an issue like mounts, it was because people were talking about “stuff being taken away from them” or putting in lots of time and effort to do something, and then the game changes in a way which negates previous player effort."
stop fixating on ME, and try reading the content of my posts.
in context.
you’re more than welcome to disagree with my posts, but don’t start attacking me just because you’re frustrated with the situation.
it’s not as if i’m the one who made any of these decisions you’re upset about.
Ah, so its THEIR fault! I see. Instead of accepting the fact there is a potential problem, you BLAME the players for being incompetent little twits. It all makes sense!
I’m not fixating on you. I’m simply addressing the fact you, among others are refusing to admit that Blizzard may have done something stupid.
He will never ever admit that, ever…
Ever.
yeah sure.
that’s exactly what i’m doing.
you caught me.
what is your problem?
just because people don’t have optimal navigation skills, doesn’t mean they were dropped on their head at some point.
it just means they haven’t learned to get by without either popping through a portal, or being summoned somewhere.
…or maybe they just missed a few short-cuts along the way.
why do i need to admit that?
i don’t.
neither does anyone else.
they may have, they may not have.
are people upset? yes.
does that mean a bad thing happened? in todays world, NOPE.
