I feel like the azerite system would be alot nicer if it was made so if ywou choose the generic trait, then you just have the generic trait for every spec
If you choose a spec specific trait, then it rotates to the other spec specific traits when you change spec.
Youd still have some decision there, maybe the generic trait is good for your main spec, but useless for others… maybe the spec specific traits is great for your main spec but the worst for the others
People who feel the need to have the best gear would still keep more than one azerite piece for off specs, but for people who just want to casually try other specs they wouldnt feel like they’re missing something important.
If Azerite gear were to be updated to have a “state” for each spec, where it changes when I change my spec, I would be happy.
For example If I am in dps spec, and I get a new azerite helm. The skills on each tier appropriate for dps are what I can choose. I choose them, lock them in. Then I change my spec to tank. Currently, the azerite helm will have those dps skills locked.
But what I want is for it to have a new “state” where I can choose the tank appropriate ones, and it will lock for that spec. So when I switch between my dps / tank spec, the azerite skills also switch. And if I want to reforge them for whatever reason, I go to the reforge vendor pay the gold and reset it.
This would not completely wipe out the necessity or desire to have multiple sets of azerite gear, because different pieces have different skills and maybe I will have multiple, one for raid focused vs. dungeon. Or aoe focused vs. single target. Or maybe just utility for certain bosses, etc.
But IMO updating the azerite gear to have a “state” for each spec would greatly help in reducing the amount a little, as well as help for more casuals who don’t want to “collect them all”.
I feel like this is a reasonable ask, but that’s my 2 cents.
I’m not even looking for BiS. I just want a set of traits that function for the spec I am currently playing, whatever spec that may be.
This isn’t coming from a min-max point of view.
Currently, on my Druid and Paladin I’m just using general traits that work across multiple specs like Dagger in the Back or Stand As One just so I have something that at the very least functions whether I am playing Dps, Tank, or Heal. Though… many general traits just simply don’t function for healing which feels bad.
I do not have enough azerite gear to create multiple sets for all the roles, let alone specs my Druid possesses.
My Druid (aside from the set it is wearing) has 0 alternate 385 pieces.
It does have 5 370 chests.
1 370 shoulders.
And yet still 0 370 helms.
I can’t make alternate sets with the gear I have on it and I’ve been doing the weekly activities mentioned before (WQ emissaries, M+ weekly, Conq Cap) for months now.
When you run various types of content in a single day - yes it can get costly very quick.
It’s not convenient or practical to play X spec on Mon-Tues, Y spec on Wed, Z spec on Thurs-Friday, and back to Y on Sat-Sun. The need for the different roles varies throughout any given day depending on who is online, and what content is being done.
Blizzard creates so much content (which is GREAT) along with varied ways/specs of participating in it - but then when you do so with a community/team mindset (taking on varying roles that are needed), you end up being punished with reforge costs.
yes it is not broken. Players can avoid reforging by farming more gear. The question is why is blizzard punishing reforging? either by farming or by paying gold, people that dual spec have to expect to play more. Why punish at all? It really does not add to benefit to the game to require dual specs to have play more. there is more DPS because that how people level, world quest, and pvp. Raids and dungeons need healers and Tanks. It is counter productive to dissuade people form switching back and forth.
Oh no - you would still use the loot table mapping they have for the M+ cache.
So you’d have to 2-chest at LEAST a 10 to get a 385 piece to drop (that’s 1 piece out of 5 people) ; most dungeons have 2 pieces - so even if you were the lucky one to get the azerite gear drop, you’d need to still roll again to get the piece you wanted. 2-chesting a 10+ is no small feat.
If you 2-Chested a +8 you’d only get a 370, down the line till you got back to the 0 -> 340.
Juggling secondary stats can’t really be compared to juggling azerite traits. The traits should for the most part have a noticeable effect on game play. even if its the boring passive ones. Switching specs and not having an active trait just feels wrong and you lose a good portion of the benefit from that gear piece.
Think of it like this, you have a piece of gear that gives you haste, crit, and vers. You switch specs and suddenly you lose the haste on the gear. Now add on that to actually acquire gear for your offspec you are pretty much have to play a slot machine with a very low chance.
With secondary stats you always gain some benefit, even if its not the best for your current need.
Also allowing the traits to switch with specs wouldn’t stop me from trying to farm the ideal pieces for my offspec. It just feels overly punishing and poorly thought out to restrict it in its current form.
Where, exactly? Every targetable source of 340+ azerite gear is on a week reset. Every other source of 340+ azerite is not targetable, and the only one that goes up to 385 is both untargetable AND on a week reset.
And that’s great for the people who actually get usable traits from emissary.
But I’m looking at a bank bag with five 370 Fairweather Tunics/Shoulders (0 good druid traits) and two 370 Gravethorn Jerkins (usable for the worst tank spec in the game and literally no other spec). I counted, right now. Those pieces were all strictly inferior to 340s I already had. I’m keeping them in that bag in the forlorn hope that just maybe one day my entire class will have more than 4-5 serviceable traits outside of Archive/Laser – or at least in the seemingly inevitable event the few good ones we have get nerfed overnight.
And, you know, God forbid we ever get an az emissary outside of Drustvar or Tiragarde.
The system isn’t too complicated but it is extremely frustrating. For instance, as a prot paladin we look for an Inspiring Vanguard trait, but we also have to have 1 Archive or Laser Matrix in raid for the buff. The helm off Mythic Mother has both of these traits. So instead of swapping back and forth for raid and M+ the solution is to farm the same helm twice so you can have one for raid and one for M+? That seems not right to me
There is no such thing as a character that has dual roles. When a player joins a group they are either a tank, healer or dps. Never have i seen a player expected to be two roles. Nice try though?
I think this is more of a “I want to tank stuff as a dps, and i dont care about what role i am suppose to be doing, the other players can suffer for all i care” and so you blame the system for making harder to do. Ya more of “When i pug, i dont care about tanking as a dps… it may piss other people off or whatever (who cares really) but since my guild would kick me if i tried that on them, i must have a normal set of gear for tanking too”
No big surprise.
… all rewards should be removed for changing specs in a pug dungeon or raid imo. Your not performing your role as expected by the automated group maker… so why get the rewards? This is just for pugs, i dont care about premade groups, they can do whatever they want.
Also why not roll an alt or carry an extra piece of gear if its so bad? If you reforge the same piece back and forth thats not an issue with the game it is an issue with you.
If I didnt have to wait and pray for an RNG chest to get me a piece of 385 azerite it wouldnt matter, but there is no way to get 3 pieces at M+ level that are even ok for a main spec, let alone having 2+ sets of them across roles.
I would like to know how we’re supposed to acquire multiple sets of 385 azerite armor when it’s so hard to get in the first place. Or maybe this Bornakk CM is saying he keeps lower ilvl azerite for his offspecs, which is a lazy answer to me.
