if you base it on a percentage of income rather than a gross amount, a large amount of us donate what blizzard does to charities.
Wait wait wait. Have we gone so far off the deep end that we are now holding up Activision-Blizzard as a model of altruism?
Is that really where we are right now?
They are off the backend. I am sure a lot of companies would love to pocket all $3 million dollars to themselves. Assuming the goal DOES get met that $3 million dollars comes straight from Blizzard’s pocket since they very well could have donated nothing. Jnstead of making (as an example) $10 million dollars in December they are only making $7 million despite “selling” $10 million worth of goods.
Dang, wish I didn’t break from the forums. If you’re so stupid to not realize that they’re only doing it for tax cuts and that’s where the real issue lies (cause they actually dont’ use ANY of THEIR money. They use YOURS and benefit from it twice. (AKA they donated, they get tax cuts and POCKET the rest).
But keep playing the sheep.
Stop pretending that you care about people complaining about charities and just admit that you like to defend Blizzard.
That’s not Yesuna.
Essentially. It has become like the WoW player base is like the petulent child that is living with their parents. Anything the parent does is wrong in the eyes of the child and no matter what unless the parent is kissing up to the child, it will be wrong. Guess what, no real company that does things like charity drives by selling things, etc, give to charity. It is giving your money pooled together for it. That money though wouldn’t make it to the charity without them. Stop being so childish and just quit playing wow if you are so disheartened by them. Stop wasting the time of you and everyone else with your childish complaining about everything they do.
Imagine coming up with a childish excuse while calling others childish.
This sounds like projection more than anything.
There should be a new Achievement with a title.
Complain about 100 different topics relating to Blizzard on the General Discussion forum.
Reward Title: [Name], the Karen
Get on my level.
It’ll be like Mount Collecting, there’ll be an entry level 100 topic achievement, then a 500 topic achievement and so on and so forth. Adding another 500 topics per expansion.
Krystella, the Mega Karen
Ha! You think I wanna defend Blizzard? They can get into the frigging sea for all I care. There are SOOOOOOOO many things that Blizzard has done inside and outside of the game that I actively hate. It’s why I skipped Legion after the WoD disaster. It’s why I waited until AFTER they gave BlitzChung his money back to even consider coming back for BFA and even THEN I bought it at half price because I refused to pay full price for it. Its why I still refuse to spend a single dime in their in game store or buy anything from them at all outside the bare minimum needed to play. So no I do not want to defend Blizzard.
But Blizzard mobilizing it’s playerbase every year to raise a large amount of money for charity is not one of things I hate about them. In fact its one of the very few things they do that I like. And people lying and crying about it did upset me. That’s why I made the thread. Not to defend Blizzard, but to shine a light on just how petty and sad part of the community has been over this charity event.
It’s 100% a PR move and a write-off. Absolutely nothing more. They sell us a pet. They donate the money we provide. Then they write it off and get it back.
Does a charity happen to benefit from a profitable move masked as an altruistic endeavor? Yes. They do.
Is that the reason they do it? Give me a friggin’ break. If you want to donate, go donate, you wont though, because that wont get you a pet.
You have absolutely no idea how write offs work do you lol
Come on. At least do your research before you get all buggered up and start ranting on a forum. Google is right there. Use it.
Here’s the thing.
OP’s point was the same that you’re making. What he’s angry about is the group of people on the forum that think it SHOULD be 100% charitable. I’ve seen a number of people argue that Blizzard shouldn’t be donating anything because it’s not altruistic.
And most of the arguments about the cap boil down to “They’re not doing the thing the way they should.”
That’s what he’s annoyed about. He’s never said that it wasn’t a PR move.
Yeah way to self identify as the child there bud.
Exactly. Pretending that any corporation on earth does public charity drives like this out of the goodness of their cold blackened heart is a fool. It’s obviously a PR move, but it’s a PR move where everyone wins. Blizzard gets a relatively small tax write off, players get to donate to a good cause AND get a pet in the process, and some very deserving charities get large donations.
And yet some misinformed chuckleheads still feel the need to try and complain about this very good thing despite them very obviously having no idea why they are talking about considering how many of them seem to think Blizzard is making a profit, stealing the money, and/or is misleading its playerbase despite OVERWHELMING evidence to the contrary.
It’s just complainers wanting to complain which in GD I am used to it, but instead of complaining about real problems they were complaining about money going to charity.
It’s mind numbingly stupid.
How much did blizzard paid your for this. Any charities never goes full amount to destination unless you give it to someone directly.
All big companies that create charities they take a share of it , for their effort
It’s an incredibly pointless thing for people on either side of the debate to even care about. If you care about charities then it really shouldn’t matter to you how the money gets to them as long as it does in fact get to them. If you want the pet then the charity doesn’t matter.
If you’re the type of person that wants to cause a scene and jumps at every opportunity to play the role of the victim then this is great for you. That type is a dime a dozen around here so I can see why it’s such a hot topic.
If you didn’t want to defend this you wouldn’t be here defending it. Nobody is making you do this. Nobody is forcing you to martyr yourself for Blizzard’s sake. Personally I didn’t care about BlitzChung and I don’t care about charity pets either.
If I want to do something for someone there are plenty of people right outside my work place that need help and I can help them directly. I don’t need to go through Blizzard or Make-A-Wish to have a positive impact on someone that needs it.
My argument is if you care about the charity and the pet, do both and god forbid the children get twice the amount.
