The Felcycle secret hunt is such a convoluted mess that I’m not even going to attempt it.

Normal quests when the current plot of the game is on pause for now until the Undermine shows up?
This event gives some of the devs something to do.
Do literally anything else than stupid secret hunts that only a few dozen people will enjoy while the rest follow a guide.

That’s how they do development in general. All the class design is centered around a handful of people the devs follow on twitter, for example.
Secrets of Azeroth probably takes a team of ~4 people and generates a ton of positive press. It’s a recolor of a mount they already added to the game and the rest is a series of quests.
So have those 4 people make quests that the other 99.999% of the playerbase can do.
That’s not how it works. And you could absolutely go follow a guide to do the quests yourself.
That’s LITERALLY my complaint, this thread is like 2 minutes old how are you scrolling past that?
It is really just the one dev actually that is behind the secrets. And like the Darkmoon Faire rollercoaster, this is more of a little fun.
It is not for everyone and that is okay.

While you may consider it a waste of time, for the first time in a LONG time, something has brought this community from around the world together. There are plenty of things I felt were a waste of time that someone else loves. But imagine how those folks are playing the game and not in here complaining. Seems to me this Fel Cycle is pure content, and enjoyed by thousands. Our opinion stops where someone elses’ starts. I’d rather we stop making non-issue complaint threads and focus on actual issues.

Yep… one guy. One very creative guy. 
Mythic raiding and high end m+ probably make up a smaller percentage of the playerbase.
Food for thought.
Stop wasting time complaining about content you don’t want to participate in and do normal quests so you can get to level 80.

These secret quests are some of the best ones in WoW, imo. A real adventure…!
