Stop hiding AoE abilities from allies in dungeons

The amount of flashy ground effects are insane this expansion. My PC is well able to render them all, but my mark 1 eyeballs are giving up.

I would suggest a setting where friendly aoe damage is a simple blue circle and friendly healing is a green one. They player would still see their own animation. That would make it very simple to see where to stand.

Hard disagree - Blizzard is rightly prioritizing the important ground effects that players need to know about, and ignoring everything else.

We don’t need to know about your night fae AoE ability that’s the equivalent of visual explosive diarrhea and in content that matters the tank is moving the pack for a good reason anyway.

These should definitely show up. Give people a toggle in their graphics settings and be done with it. If they can’t handle changing a setting, then maybe they shouldn’t be playing the game, since they wouldn’t be able to handle a simple macro or anything else really. It’s actually rather patronizing honestly, for Blizz to decide we are all idiots that need our hands held.

I’ve always hated any time spell effects don’t show up to anyone but yourself (like the warlock’s soul shard glyphs). It breaks immersion and ruins my experience, even as a third party viewer watching someone else cast spells. I should be able to see it all, like I’m really in the world and seeing what is happening in it.

you should know when to stop moving them.

If they can see a hunters tar trap, they should be able to see my magic DPS circle.

So your answer is basically “screw everyone who needs to blow a ground AoE CD on a tough pack” if the tank supposedly needs to move? None of these packs need kiting under 12 with a good group so I guess your argument is keys under a certain level don’t matter. That is, of course, objectively false. People should still be allowed to maximize the benefit of their situation(s) regardless of the level of content.

As has already been stated numerous times in the thread today, it can be added as an option, so you wouldn’t have to enable it if it offends you so badly.

Ground aoe needs a total redesign.

My computer can display it, but there is way too much stacking on top of each other to distinguish half of it.

AoE ground heals (good & bad)
AoE ground Damage (good & bad)
Stairs, minor elevations and floor textures that obscure or outright hide the above graphical effects

Then you have ground AoE effects that extend beyond the graphic…

Players, mobs and mutiples there of are all stacking this stuff and you cant distinguish anything. Amateur development for sure.

Enraged bears in halls of atonement…

I don’t have a potato but I would love to see an option not to see all the effects from others, playing as a melee I find it incredibly hard to see things at times.

Honestly, the game just needs less semi-persistent ground abilities. This isn’t GW2, stop copying them.

It’s designed to let you kill packs of enemies at once to give the illusion of power, or DPS inflation, but it’s unnecessary. It’s pointless ground clutter to cover up for lazy design.

In massive fights the visual clutter is insane, its a damn light show. They probably dont want to be sued for causing someone to have a seizure in a raid.

It’s cuz the game was rushed and never polished

They could have worked out a better way to do it so you don’t have tanks accidentally dragging mobs out of your stationary AoE, but I’m personally glad there’s less visual clutter. Fights are flashy enough as is with overlapping mob abilities, I could do without players making it worse.

Same reason why while I love FFXIV’s attention to detail with your spell effects, I have to turn down everyone’s spells but my own; so I can actually see what’s going on. Otherwise the screen is literally just fire and smoke 90% of the time and I can’t even see the boss, let alone the telegraph on the ground.

Except for the pack after Echelon the gar-bear-dogs aren’t really in positions where they are so threatening as a pack or combo-pack that we’re blowing our AoE cooldowns on them, so kiting is a non-issue if we have no enrage dispels. /shrug

People in this thread are still overlooking the suggestion of adding this as an optional toggle with a reduced visual. Tanks need to be able to see these things. The fact my entire guild complains about tanks pulling things out of their AoE is already an indicative anecdote.

Further on the kiting point, a tank being able to see the AoE would then be able to kite in a circular pattern to adhere to circular AoEs or a straight line if there’s no room. I don’t really see a downside to this as an optional toggle.

so frustrating watching the tank MOVE AWAY from my aoe 2MIN CD , not because he wants me to do less dmg , because he cant even see it!

Blizz its already 2020 ,GRAPHIC OPTIONS EXISTS hell one is pretty specific about others spell effects …

we really need to add ALWAYS SHOW GROUP/RAID effects already like other mmorpgs

Well, would you look at that?

Hunter
Wild Spirits (Night Fae Ability) is now briefly visible to the Hunter’s allies (was hidden entirely)

Please do it for the rest, Blizz. Thanks.

Yes! This was a MISTAKE Other players need to see the lines so they can kite the mobs such that the monk can stand in them while fighting and get the procs.

(And the procs should work no matter which monk’s fae lines you stand in)

This is the issue. A monk has to stand in the lines to get additional procs. So, to maximize AOE in Mythic dungeons the tank now has to try to follow where the monk stands instead of just looking at the ground.
