Stop gating major storyline behind Torghast

I understand that Torghast is a big feature and major characters are currently stuck there, that’s fine. But not everyone is good at this type of content or enjoys it. I don’t find it a good idea to gate the main storyline to something that has a limited number of tries.

As someone who is still dealing with the long haul effects after COVID, especially the brain fog, this type of thing isn’t easy and attempting to get through the hallways of floor fire and swinging axes is difficult. My comprehension level isn’t good enough now for that type of thing.

The Tyrande portion of things was a scenario in there. And that’s okay. I didn’t have a finite number of tries. I wasn’t stressed out for an hour. So the main storyline is fine if it’s all scenario style.

But the Runecarver questline needs to not be locked to the main storyline. I can’t progress anything else without his stuff that I really don’t care about. I’m not interested in Torghast or legendaries. I’m not going to be doing that type of content to need the legendary and just don’t have interest in it. And I honestly can barely get through it with my current state of health.

Just unlock the main storyline/Covenant campaign from the Runecarver. Don’t make running Torghast for his stuff a requirement to get through the main storyline. I honestly can’t handle Torghast again. It’s both boring and stressful at the same time. It reminds me how dumb I’ve become thanks to COVID. And at this rate, I’m not going to be able to progress through my Covenant or the main storyline if I have to keep running Torghast. Which means I can’t even play the parts of the game I like.

All I’m asking is for the Runecarver to not be a requirement to progress the Covenant campaign. If there’s a way to do that, myself and some others would be most grateful.

TL;DR: Im not asking for any difficulty or game design changes. I am only asking for the Runecarver quest to not be locked to Renown quests. Nothing else. Nothing about the content itself needs changed. Just let us run Runecarver when we want to, separately from when we want to do our Renown campaign.

What covenant are you? If you are Night Fae or Venthyr you can use your covenant ability to teleport past the traps.

But Torghast doesn’t.

Huh?

What’s the limit?

A certain number of deaths, then the Tarragrue spawns.

The problem is that the bosses aren’t very well tuned. It’s not that Torghast is bad, just that the level 6 bosses are poorly designed.

I like Torghast overall, but the bosses really need an overhaul if they want to get casuals into playing Torghast willingly.

If you pick up all the powers that are purely DPS upgrades, the end bosses are generally easy enough. Then its just about dodging pools of bad while putting out crazy damage.

Also, I hear a lot of the bosses are susceptible to those smoke bombs, so you should definitely pick them up when they’re on the brokers.

I attempted it and got caught in the middle of the hallway. I made it through eventually. I just can’t handle having to go in there for the actual levels again. The scenarios are fine.

I find it frustrating that I couldn’t get to the Tyrande part of the storyline without completing a quest for a side storyline.

Go with friends next time. Let others do the thinking, you just tag along for the killin’ :stuck_out_tongue:

That doesn’t get me through those hallways, though. The killing things isn’t the issue. The hallways of swinging axes and spikes or fire is what screws me over.

I really just don’t want to have to go back in unless I want to. Not because I’m forced to.

I went in there with a friend who got totally freaked out by the random axes and other things. We just had to take it slow and steady and he made it through in the end. So no, it’s definitely not for everyone and I can understand those who don’t care for it much.

Bits and pieces is fine. I see it as them trying to keep things mixed up so you’re not in one place all the time.

True. Demonic Gateway gets me through those on my warlock. Also, there’s usually two hallways in those areas, one of which is much longer and more dangerous than the other.

But as far as using Torghast to drive the story, I foresee them reusing that trope time and time again over SL cycle. It’s just too easy not to force us back in there for another moron factional leader who got themselves kidnapped or jailed.

Torghast should be all cosmetic the way its set up. Either that or it needs toned down. Shouldn’t have to play roguelike all or nothing style games to progress for pretty much all other content in the game. Legendaries shouldn’t be tied to this crap.

Thank you for understanding. :slightly_smiling_face:

Which I get. But it should be a choice and not mandatory. I’ve got lots of places to go and lots of things to do without Torghast.

I know. :expressionless:

My only hope is that those parts stay scenario style. The Runecarver parts should absolutely be the levels of Torghast. But those quests shouldn’t lock me out of the main storyline.

What exactly are you locked out of? I don’t know the Alliance storyline but as far as “story” goes I don’t recall being forced into Torghast for anything after the initial rescue. I’m renown 6 on both my 60s.

For these reasons I wish things had least a story mode

I hadn’t done the quest to unlock a chain of the Runecarver. When I got Renown 5, the next part of the storyline wouldn’t unlock until I went into Torghast to get the stupid key for the Runecarver.

I should turn off Auto Turn In lol. Haven’t read quests since launch…

LOL well… not everyone cares about the story, I suppose. I can’t fault anyone for that. We all play for different reasons.
