Yeah, but at least my class was fun in WoD
I can’t really find a class or spec I like in current WoW and it’s a serious struggle

What the heck does bfa have to offer at end game. Mission table sucks. Wq’s are a complete waste of time. The questing to level to get to 120 is the worst yet.
I don’t know why people get so butt hurt when people say wod was better. To me so far it’s not even close. Bfa is a complete disaster so far. I mean islands are a selling point. Worthless content to me.
We can compare any expansion to any other expansion.
World Quests, mythic dungeons, Island Expeditions, allied races.
WoD created the missions tables.
No they’re not. They give you rep, gold and gear for your alts. Apexis crystals were worthless.
How so? You can pick what zone you want to start with or skip. BfA sends you all over the map. WoD, at release, was kind of on rails. No scaling. SMV and Frostfire was level 90, you had to start there, Gorgrond and the Spires were your next stop, then so on.
I don’t understand why you get so butt hurt when I ask you to explain why it was better. I was there, opening day, and I remember the nothingness of WoD once you hit max level. These were your choices:
Jumping puzzles.
Your garrison.
Filling a bar.
Fine, it’s worthless to you. That doesn’t mean it’s not there (like WoD.)
OP… You realize all of your supposed Positives about BFA are just Negatives in reality. All of the things you mentioned that BFA has that WoD didn’t have was not the truth, the only difference really is War Mode.
In BFA Blizz has ruined the follower Mission tables because once you are at max rep, there is no reason at all to do Missions. The gold missions are so horribly nerfed there is no reason to spend any energy doing them. At least in WoD, I was doing my follower missions and worked hard on all of my alts to get them to have the max followers so that they all could be doing Gold Missions. Not so in BFA, I have stopped doing follower missions, it’s a waste of time.
Then in Legion at least we had Legendaries, that made for fun progression, and a fun challenge to try and get as many Legos’ as possible on each toon. Here in BFA, what do we have? A dumb necklace that really does nothing.
There is no Tier sets. In WoD and Legion at least I was trying to run Raids to try and complete my Tier sets. Here? What’s the point?
WoD certainly did ruin Professions, no question. But what’s sad is that Blizz has done nothing to return Professions back to being useful. In fact I would dare say Profs are even worse now. As a Leather Worker, the only useful gear that I can craft is the 350/370 gear that’s Soulbound. Talk about idiotic, that’s it. And then where do the mats come? More soul bound resources.
You say not to compare BFA to WoD??? What’s really the ultimate dig to BFA that is so incredibly sad is that BFA is so bad, I wish I was back in WoD in my Garrison. You totally shot yourself in the foot with your list.
Thank you OP for providing this opportunity of comparing BFA to WOD.
Discussion of ones feelings is always much more productive then the suppression of them. People have feelings and view points and they’re usually based on a comparisons of one or more from the past.
Bonus fact: Usually when you tell people to stop doing something it just ends up motivating them to do it.
I do understand that it is too early to judge. But so far i preferred WoD by a huge degree. 8.1 wont fix it, for me, as im opposed to the fundamentals of all the systems, but i wont be such a hecking naysayer that ill totally disregard 8.2, yet. Dont make me blizz. pls.
They’re both terrible but for different reasons. Give me BFA’s sense of world design and outdoor content with WoD’s gameplay systems and class design and you’d have a decent expansion.
That said, what they previewed for 8.1 and beyond blows the joke that was 6.1 away.
While I don’t disagree with you that we’re not quite WoD tier yet, we’re definitely on that track though.
World quests aren’t content. They’re still dailies that potentially dont give anything of worth outside the emissary. And even thats usually just AP and war resources. Not only that, the rep rewards aren’t even remotely worth it. Wew lads, thats some spicy, engaging, and rewarding world content right there. Warmode isn’t even balanced due to how broken sharding still is.
I dont even remember what we were promised anymore outside of this garbage azerite trait crap and warmode anymore. Also, if all we’re getting is 3 raids, this expansion is going to be extremely painful. I’m already completely sick of Mythic +, world bosses aren’t challenging or engaging, its just queuing up in group finder and collecting some loot, maybe. Speaking of loot, how about that amazing and rewarding loot system we got going? I hate playing loot roulette with everything I do. I hate warforging. I hate the lack of having anything of substance to work toward. LOLSURPRISETITANFORGE! gear isn’t fun. it doesn’t feel good. It feels like garbage.
Professions are still pretty obsolete. I’ve tried to put forth some effort into my blacksmithing, but the more I keep thinking about it, why bother? I wont ever see any return on it. The gear that I can make will never be worth the grinding I have to put forth. Unless your an alch, enchanter, or JC, professions are dead.
Mission table still needs to go away. It isn’t engaging. It isn’t fun. Its just spend some resources and get a small return later. Download our app so you can get some more returns when you’re away from your desk! oooooo fun!
TLDR: BFA isn’t WoD bad, but its getting there.
Forgot about professions. BfA professions are trash.
Raiding is pretty close. Uldir’s pretty good.
I like WoD better than BfA, because WoD didn’t have level scaling. For the same reason, I like WoD better than Legion.
We cant even rate BFA yet till the expansion is over. I liked the first 2 months of WoD then it went downhill. The last 14 months of it I finished levelling 10 characters and then logged in 3 times a day to do my mission table (which made me my first 5 million gold in WoW, the only good thing to really happen in WoD imo). As soon as my guild had killed heroic Archi they quit for the year. All motivation was dead to do Mythic HFC. It was truly a horrible expansion. My guild had raided to each expansion end, from Wrath to MoP but not WoD. I will even go so far as to say WoD killed my guild. Guild after guild I joined in the first tier of Legion raiding up to the Helya raid fell apart. As good as Legion was WoD had exacted a heavy toll on morale and motivation. By this time I had to learn that if I was to play WoW for enjoyment I would have to embrace alternative content to raiding. I took 6 months off WoW and when I returned Legion provided that alternative I needed with Broken Shore, Argus, Mythic+, World Quests and Invasions and BFA so far has entertained me also. I don’t ask a lot from Blizz and Im going to wait till next xpac to judge BFA, just as I rated WoD and Legion after they finished. I wish I did still raid sometimes, I hear Uldir is decent and the raid in 8.1 is being very hyped up as a great raid by the PTR raiders.
Even with all of WoDs problems, it was somehow more fulfilling than BFA is right now. I guess having actual targetable loot and character progression is nice… You can give us a ton, but it means nothing when we just feel like we’re on a hamster wheel of casino wheels grinding for nothing at all. ZERO satisfaction in BFA.
Not true. You could a regular mission from your garrison where you went to places like Shattrach to get gear and other items. You had world bosses such as Rukhmar, you had Ashran for your Pvp (I know, a lot of people talk up their hate of Ashran but I recall that a huge number of people always seemed to be there doing it at the time). There was a lot of world content.
Made me a whole lot of gold from the mission tables and whatever else garrisons may have done wrong, they paid for my playing time for well over a year. And professions in BfA are completely screwed.
Don’t get me wrong, WoD had a lot of problems. But try to keep your facts straight when comparing WoD and BfA, it helps make your point.
…
…
BfA is Legion 0.5.
Everyone hated Cata with a passion.
The complainers come here and complain.
Every expansion…
Nice hand waiving there. Yes there are people who complaign and many do it because they are passionate about the game. But you are overlooking a lot of things such as how early in tthe expansion it started. There was literally zero hype for BFA from the time it was announced. The negative criticisms started in Alpha and all through Beta, and Blizzard ignored all the feedback. BFA was rushed out the door early. Very early all because of the internal issues at Blizzard with Morhaim leaving .
Wod could have been great but the expansion was abandoned by the devs very early so they could get to work on Legion. Probably because Ion was in a rush to placate his giant ego and make something that was his and not really a joint effort.
Legion started off great and ended badly with the same stupid decisions we are seeing in BFA . Will BFA end well? Doubtful as there is just too many fires to put out. With all that is wrong with BFA if they tried to fix everythinng then future development will suck .
Thefre is a lot of problems at Blizzard and it is showing . Hell the entire Industry is in deep now.
^^ This pretty much,if it’s new,it sucks,if it’s in the past it’s amazing despite being crapped on when it’s new,it’s a viscous cycle of catch 22s. Blizz is damned if they add in things people request IE-scaling akin to GW2,they’re damned and out of touch if they don’t.
Nope! My account expired in September. BfA is hot garbage and WoD was hot garbage. Biggest difference for me was WoD had Glad Stance for Warriors. I’ll give the nudge to WoD, it held my attention from start to the final raid. BfA? About 4 weeks…
You sound like a Blizzard apologist and shill. If Blizzard had been doing a good job they wouldnt have lost as many subs as they have as quickly. WOD proved that a huge number of people want to play the game. Something like 5 million people came back fro WOD and they lost them all plus more with poor development decisions. Removing choice from the players and basically removing the RPG aspect of a MMORPG is not keeping players retained
