Stoopzz on how to fix PvP gear

In software design, there is a design paradigm called “sensible defaults” for people who feel the advanced functions of software is “too much”.

They should have had that years ago natively, but I’d wager they leave addons (within reason) as they are to fill that niche. Do not know who the hell they are designing the game for at this point.

PvP items having a mediocre item level for PvE and a great item level for PvP makes the most sense to me. Idk why Blizzard abandonded the idea.

Getting gear and gearing up is fun (I should say it was fun, in WoD)

WoD vendor gear options and WoD ilvl boost and WoD PVP gear pacing. That was the best.

WoD’s PvP gear was unfun for many other reasons. PvPers loved it, but it invalidated Normal HFC gear, invalidated BoA tokens from Tanaan, and due to the scaling working in the open world, people were stuck using ilvl 700 PvP gear to do their Tanaan stuff, instead of their 725+ Mythic HFC set, just in case a ganker decided to engage.

Warmode fixes this entirely.

Don’t want to “engage” with anyone? Then turn off warmode.

It seems silly to have PVP players entire experience trashed just so heroic raiders can do world quests with warmode on and be stronger than PVP geared players, just in case they get ganked.

So again, trash the entire PVP gearing experience for PVP players so that PVE players can get a 10% world quest bonus and not have to worry as much about being ganked?

If people have to be coerced into Warmode, the whole experience is trash to begin with.

The only reason is that people could not adjust their stats. Hence “Give players the ability to adjust their own template”.

you are thinking about this from a PVE point of view. PVP people dont need to be coerced into turning warmode on. they do it because pvp is the style they like to play. those getting coerced are goofballs just looking to take any shortcut they can.

In other words : remove bonuses of Warmode, and let PvPers have their fun. After they all, it’s what they like to play.

Even if you could adjust your stats it would be boring.

That’s good for a tournament setting, not great for an overall setting

The whole point of PvP is to flex on other nerds

Here I was being silly and thinking you were skilled and didn’t need gear to carry you against unsuspecting lowbies and new players.

A PVP stat should only be defensive. It should be the mathematical representation of being a battle-seasoned fighter. e.g. You survive longer because you’ve seen years of combat.

In a weird way, PVP for those of us who love it shouldn’t be shorter, it should be longer. What you really want to do is suss out the nonsense and get down to a battle of wits. Who can react faster and smarter to new problems? The goal here is to almost remove the role of gear, while not removing what essentially would be “battle intelligence” and since you can’t do that, you do a defensive stat.

No damage boost should ever be there, IMO. That’s not the point.

Sorry bro but starting off in all greens and getting destroyed in battle grounds before you collect your full set of gear so you could return the favour to others and see that full growth of power in PvP was amazing

no, its harder to clear content. so that is why they get the bonus
