Still not understanding how to get relic coffer keys

brann xp and delvers bounty also to fill the vault…

regulars only award green 554 gear i believe

Thats the only place to get XP for DJ and Brann now.

I need both.

psure that the only place to get any crests from also.

Might get a couple carved for regulars, not sure, haven’t tried myself.

The first 4 boxes each week that you get from world activities will contain a key. World activities are twice-weekly zone assignments (the elite WQs unlocked by doing a few WQs in that zone), the Awakening the Machine weekly quest, the Kobold treasure digging weekly quest, Spreading the Light, the Azj-Kahet pact weekly quest, the Dornogal theater weekly quest, and the weekly in Dorn given by either Brinthe or Faerin. You do not need to do all of these each week, just any combination of 4 of those that you want to do each week.

You can get additional keys each week by getting 100 coffer key shards per week, which is easiest by getting a group to do a big Radiant Echoes pull, which are special events that cycle in the zones. You get Radiant Echoes by unlocking the chest at the end of a Bountiful Delve. Key shards can sometimes be dropped by certain WQs too.

Coffer keys can be acquired numerous ways pretty quickly.

  1. Each zone has what I call a “zone event” with an associated quest that can be done once a week. This includes the play in the auditorium on the Isle of Dorn, Awakening the Machine in the Ringing Deeps, the quest to light four minor beacon fires in Hallowfall and (if I remember right) doing busywork, mostly daily quests, for whichever spider patron you chose that week.

  2. All zones will also have a “locked” world quest every week (twice a week? I don’t remember) which you can only do after finishing three other world quests in that zone. Doing this locked quest will also reward keys.

  3. Doing Delves awards Radiant Echoes. These can be turned in at locations marked on your map to start participation in an event to earn a good number of key fragments. Many join groups/raids to do this

  4. Some world quests themselves award 25 fragments, which I think is 1/4 of a key, but just doing these is pretty slow going.

One point of clarification – Brann gets XP when finishing bountiful delves, whether you use a key at the end or not. For instance, T8 bountiful delves give 45,000 XP to Brann. No key is necessary, that’s only for the 603 item box.

Brann exp , upgraded curios for Brann, and a chance at a Delver’s Bounty map, which can drop at the end of a bounty delve from the small chests (or a chance if you get zelvir to spawn and beat ‘em:

I’m also doing them for achievements and I like the game mode, too.

And also you get the runed crests whether its bountiful/key used or not. 2 isn’t much, but if you don’t M+ or heroic raid they will add up over the season.

world quests also downgrade your delve loot in the vault as world quests count as a tier one and it operates by lowest level content rather than highest that week. Do WQ at your own risk but yeah radiant echoes are a good way to farm the shards just sucks you only get those from bountiful boxes which require keys. Such a dumb system they should remove world quests from the vault entirely so i can farm my keys without worry of my delve progress being ruined in the vault

The ”Special Assignment” WQs give a chest that contains a key amongst other items.

Then progress.

TBF, five guaranteed upgrades a week is pretty fat.

And like I said before: that’s fine!

But then that implies the obvious fact that anything at that point could be an “end game pillar” if that’s as far as you go with that form of content. Pet Battles could be an “end game pillar.” We have a weekly for it, after all.

Blizzard even added official Sets for simply doing overworld content in DF, but I don’t think anyone suddenly considered it an “end game pillar.”

It’s that word: END. To me, it has meaning. It means: “the end.” lol

And since the reward for Delves drops off so dramatically in the face of what we have long considered the actual end game in WoW… I’m just not agreeing with the premise here.

Maybe the assertion is: if you’re a SOLO PLAYER … then Delves are end game?? I guess you could say that, if you really wanted to … I dunno… further ignore the reality of everything else going on around you.

w/e… people are happy with it. All the semantics about “what is ‘end game’” is detracting from a fact I think we all agree on:

We need more reliable ways to get Coffer Keys.

These key sources are correct, but the normal weekly activities are capped to return 4 keys max per week. There are a few other key sources as well:

  • the key fragments noted above don’t count to the weekly cap, but the amount of WQs providing fragments is very limited
  • we can get a key once per character from each quartermaster, gated by reputation
  • we can buy keys with coins at Branns Quartermaster, gated by delve reputation

about “do 4 side quests by lighting the fires”:
you don’t need to complete the side quests, just light 4 small fires with 3 shards each is sufficient

Doing almost anything out in the world gives keys, four a week from events plus fragments from quests you combine

this is just factually inaccurate. The only reward you get higher than delves is from M+10 vault or from the mythic raid. Delves still reward heroic track gear which can be upgraded to 626 just like any other vault from M+ vaults below lvl 10. Even the champion gear you get upgrades to 619… not 610-613 like you’re saying. and throwing out 630, which is a mid track and isn’t even a possible ilvl on a piece makes me think you don’t even know the gear tracks or their breakpoints.

So you want to compare 1% RNG (and the whole point of this thread is that even the 1% part is a limited resource-- so a limited ability to even attempt the RNG) … with targetable, guaranteed drops?

You’re free to make that comparison if you want …

the vault is heroic gear dude… just like any mythic + below lvl 10… not sure what you dont understand about this. that means its guaranteed, every week

So once a week, you get to pick ONE item. And you have no idea what that item is going to be. To say nothing of how Delves reward a lot of trinkets, and ALL of its trinkets are bad. And all of that… on just Heroic track.

I mean… hooray, right? You’re not wrong…

you say just heroic track like its bad. you’ve killed one heroic boss and are doing 4s. your not even getting heroic track from m+ yet. what are you even on about.

That’s not at all how that works.

If you do eight +8 delves you will unlock max rewards for the delve tier, regardless of what world content you might have done.

not everyone wants to run raids or m+ and they are perfectly happy with the delve gear.
some do a little of each, some do just delves and pushing tiers to zekvir
