Yes I’m confused at how you can be so laughably stupid. Clearly you don’t know a thing about PvP
Spy isn’t that bad for rogues. All this crying about it is over rated and it’s getting old.
Does it tell on you for stealthing…yep it does. But guess what, it doesn’t say which direction you were or where you are going.
Want to gank that lowbie but he’s using SPY? Guess what, stealth earlier out of range.
It’s not game breaking. All this crying when DBM or GTFO or anything else that holds you hand in PVE content is widely accepted. Those read your logs but you don’t see everyone up in arms about it.
Everyone is losing track of the one simple, undeniable fact:
It is immersion breaking.
Imagine someone new to WoW. The rogue looks like a cool class - stealthy, agile, and deceptive. They pick and choose that class because they want to play a sneaky class. They are confused as to why, whenever they stealth, enemies are seemingly always aware. He thinks they may be cheating, goes on the forum and finds out about spy and how it is allowed. They are saddened.
They only later find out at level 30 about spy and how, the moment they pressed the stealth button, instead of being the sneaky, subtle class they thought that they chose, they are doing the exact opposite, announcing their presence with a loud buzzer. In fact, a warrior merely running towards an enemy is more sneaky and agile in this sense, because he does not show up on spy until really close to his enemies. A rogue is discovered a mile away. Sort of ironic when a warrior is more subtle than a rogue in a video game. That hypothetical person unsubscribes, because they think the game is so stupid how the warrior in the game is more subtle than the rogue in PvP.
The developers would NOT have wanted this and WOULD have broken this during vanilla.
We have already established that modern blizzard will change / break things that occurred in vanilla, such as gadgetzan guards, tribute buffs, looking for group addon, etc. if it negatively affects gameplay and/or is against the spirit of classic. This will be no different of a change.
I’ve fought tooth and nail against Spy. However, it is twice as powerful for stealth users as non-stealth users.
So just get used to moving around in stealth more often. You will get to reap all the benefits of using it, without any of the cons.
First, not a fact.
Second, I do not care a single bit about ‘immersion.’ It is a fantasy game, not an actual fantasy.
DBM is fine. Thats pve. If someone needs to be told to not stand in the fire that’s one thing.
A mage that just sat down to drink after killing a mob that is suddenly alerted to a rogues presence without having even seen them is another thing. They are able to prepare. That’s unintended game play. But nothing will be done since its a pvp problem that has a pvp solution.
Exactly. And in what fantasy game do rogues announce their presence with a loud buzzing sound anytime they use their core ability to sneak around?
This one; WoW Classic. Everytime a rogue stealths/unstealths they broadcast a message to everyone in range. It shows up in the combat log.
Also drinking potions, and casting spells, using bandages, eating food, etc…
The exact sound that rogues make in game when they stealth is also used by Spy when they stealth/unstealth.
You’re a rogue. You get enough help that one addon shouldn’t matter. Your problem looks needing of a ‘git gud’ response to me.
Can’t have one without the other. They both read the same thing using the same triggers.
They wont just remove stealth because then rogues have the tracking function without the downsides of it being used by other players.
If you don’t understand why that is bad, I am sorry whatever primary education you had failed you.
Also, im a full T1 hunter. Sit there and laugh because it’s all you will do. I could probably melee most rogues who jump me now.
See. You are an example of the problem. The bias against rogues is real. If there was something that broke a fundamental ability with mages, I’d stand by them in favor of fixing it.
In a different thread, Spy users explained that after it auto-targets a player, if you have click to move and IWT configured properly, simply focusing the target and pressing IWT will auto walk you to the stealthed player.
Yep. All you gotta do is click and it will automatically target the stealthed rogue, or at least point you in his general direction. Ridiculous.
Isn’t that basically the crux of the issue?
If you think even a quarter of the people with the spy addon were paying attention to their combat logs 24/7 you are deluding yourself.
However the addon is now giving even the laziest/non-self aware people the heads up.
Its removal wouldn’t matter then, no?
It’s staying wouldn’t matter then no?
If you are already watching the combat log, what purpose does it serve?
Visual and sound alerts, simple. so again your point is invalid
So its doing the work for you in other words. You don’t really have to watch it.
I’m with you Harmondale. You should be free to be the obnoxious, noob ganking monster that you were always meant to be. There isn’t much point in playing an undead rogue if they aren’t scary.
